Radiant Industries is an El Segundo, CA-based startup developing Kaleidos, a portable, containerized nuclear microreactor. Portable nuclear power with rapid deploy capability can replace diesel generators used today to provide critical asset support for hospitals, datacenters, and military bases or to power microgrids at remote sites. Radiant's unique, practical approach to nuclear development utilizes modern software engineering to rapidly achieve safe, factory-constructable microreactors leveraging existing, well-qualified materials. Radiant is on a fast track to demonstrate the first fueled operation of a new commercial nuclear reactor design, just two years from now.
Director of Software Engineering
Radiant is seeking an excellent technical and people leader to head our software engineering organization. The software team is the backbone of our Digital Twin infrastructure, enabling reliable, real-time, and performant simulations to validate performance and safety of our systems. You will be responsible for the roadmap, schedule, budget, and execution of software milestones towards our goal to be the first new nuclear reactor design successfully fueled in over 50 years by 2026. The ideal candidate has a successful track record of leading high performing teams and seeing an early product mature into a robust, comprehensive software solution. The ideal candidate has experience building fault-tolerant, highly reliable systems. You will continue to hire and grow the team as software requirements grow and manage DevOps as well.
This role is located onsite in El Segundo, CA. Nuclear experience is not required.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Hire, lead, and grow a high performing, exceptional software team.Drive software development schedule, budget, and strategy aligned to organizational goals.Foster a collaborative culture with a big emphasis on growing responsible engineers who own their work end to end.Work closely with cross-functional engineering teams and leaders to understand business requirements and translate them into reliable solutions.Oversee the design and scale of the devops organization.Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelors in computer science, computer engineering, or similar discipline.5+ years of software development experience.3+ years leading software teams.Desired Skills and Qualifications:
Experience in developing software for a hardware product realized from concept to production.1+ years leading and mentoring software managers.Proven track record of leading high performing software teams and overseeing software operations, best practices, methodologies, and tools.Experience in interdisciplinary technical environments solving complex, ambiguous problems.Exceptional ability to pivot from diving deep into technical problems to big picture strategy development.Experience with AWS.Demonstrated interest in driving the forefront of nuclear energy.Employee Benefits for Eligible Employees:
