Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Musculoskeletal (MSK) Radiologist to join our medical team. As a Musculoskeletal Radiologist you are responsible for providing specialized adult and pediatric diagnostic imaging services focused on the musculoskeletal system within an academic medical setting. This role involves interpreting a variety of imaging studies, including X-rays, CT scans, MRI scans, and ultrasound examinations, and invasive procedures to diagnose and manage musculoskeletal conditions and injuries. Additionally, you will actively contribute to research, education, and training initiatives within the field of MSK radiology. Candidates must be ABR-eligible or ABR-certified, have completed a Diagnostic Radiology residency, and a musculoskeletal imaging fellowship.
Roles and Responsibilities:Image Interpretation:
Interpret and report on musculoskeletal imaging studies, including X-rays, CT scans, MRI scans, and ultrasound examinations. Provide detailed assessments of bone, joint, and soft tissue pathology, including fractures, arthritis, tumors, and sports-related injuries.Diagnostic Reporting:
Prepare detailed and comprehensive diagnostic reports based on your interpretations of musculoskeletal imaging studies. Ensure that reports are clear, concise, and provide clinically relevant information to assist referring physicians in patient management.Consultation and Collaboration:
Collaborate effectively with referring physicians and other healthcare professionals to discuss imaging findings, provide consultation, and assist in developing appropriate treatment plans for patients with musculoskeletal abnormalities.Minimally Invasive Procedures : Perform image-guided interventions and procedures, such as joint injections, aspirations, and biopsies under imaging guidance such as fluoroscopy, ultrasound, or CT.Research and Academic Activities:
Engage in academic and research activities related to musculoskeletal radiology. Contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field through participation in research projects, publications, and presentations. Also participate in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, imparting knowledge about imaging techniques, anatomy, and pathology of the musculoskeletal system.Quality Assurance:
Maintain high standards of diagnostic accuracy and quality assurance in interpreting musculoskeletal imaging studies. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and peer review processes to ensure the highest level of patient care.Continuing Education:
Stay updated with the latest advancements, techniques, and guidelines in musculoskeletal radiology through continuous education (CME) and participation in relevant conferences, workshops, and seminars.Patient Care:
Demonstrate empathy, professionalism, and excellent communication skills in interactions with patients undergoing musculoskeletal imaging studies. Provide clear explanations of procedures and findings to patients and address any concerns or questions they may have.Adherence to Regulatory Guidelines:
Ensure compliance with all regulatory guidelines, standards, and protocols related to musculoskeletal imaging, patient safety, and data confidentiality.Equipment Maintenance:
Collaborate with the technical staff to ensure proper maintenance and calibration of imaging equipment used for musculoskeletal studies, ensuring optimal image quality and diagnostic accuracy.Teamwork and Professional Development:
Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment by actively participating in team meetings, case discussions, and professional development activities. Mentor and support junior staff and residents in their training and development in musculoskeletal radiology.Requirements:
MD or DO Degree required.
ABR certification or eligibility.
Licensed (or eligible) to practice medicine in the state of North Carolina required.
