Job purpose

The Psychiatric Provider is a caring, compassionate, and committed provider who uses critical thinking and professional experience to provide the highest level of care. The incumbent will provide care for the presenting patient from initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care. They will communicate and work collaboratively with the general practice team, the behavioral health team, and all other stakeholders to meet the needs of our patients.

Duties and responsibilities

Conducts comprehensive evaluations of patients to assess their mental health conditions, including diagnostic assessments and history reviews.Prescribes, adjusts, and monitors medications, ensuring appropriate dosages and minimizing side effects. Educates patients on medication use and potential risks.Takes a patient-centered approach to develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients, considering their unique needs, preferences, and goals.Makes referrals to therapists, counselors, or other mental health professionals when psychotherapy is indicated as part of a patient's treatment plan.Understands legal and professional responsibility of "duty to report" and proceeds according to Florida state law associated with child and elder abuse.Provides crisis intervention and management when necessary, including coordinating hospitalization or other emergency services as needed.Maintains accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records, including progress notes, treatment plans, and medication records, in compliance with all legal and ethical standards.Attends weekly treatment team meetings as an active team member under direction of the Behavioral Health & CoCM Director.Collaborates with other healthcare professionals, such as psychiatrists, social workers, and nurses, to ensure comprehensive patient care.Educates patients and their families on mental health conditions, treatment options, and self-care strategies.Maintains all required licenses, board certifications, registrations, and any other required qualifications or credentials, keeping them up to date and in compliance prior to any expiration dates.Completes assigned annual company trainings for compliance.Stays current with the latest developments in the field of psychiatry through ongoing professional development and training.Adheres to clinical guidelines and best practices in patient care.Participates in quality improvement initiatives and contributes to the clinic's commitment to excellence in healthcare delivery.Attends outreach events as requested.Performs other duties as required.Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Experience

Valid APRN or PA license in Florida.Board certification in psychiatric/mental health specialty (e.g., PMHNP, PA-C with psychiatric experience).Master's degree in nursing or physician assistant studies.Current DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) registration.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative healthcare team.Empathy and compassion for individuals with mental health challenges.Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards.Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems.Commitment to patient-centered care.Working conditions

Prolonged periods standing, walking, and/or sitting at a desk and working on a computer may be required. Work may be required in various environments as needed by project/activity.Physical requirements
