Position Purpose
This position is for the Maternal Fetal Medicine/OBGYN Ultrasound Department at Saint Francis Hospital & Medical Center, Hartford, CT. What you will do
Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations in compliance with AIUM Guidelines.
Uses cognitive sonographic skill to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
Uses independent judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
Analyses sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information, medical history, and findings to the appropriate physician.
Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographer’s care.
Responsible for the operation of the Ultrasound diagnostics equipment and performance of all dynamic procedures in the Department of Maternal Fetal Medicine Department/ OBGYN Ultrasound.
The diagnostic medical sonographer (RDMS) is responsible for daily operations of the patient schedule, equipment maintenance, the documentation of ultrasound findings, the report of equipment failures and quality assessment (QA). Provides direct patient assessment primarily for adolescent and adult females. Occasionally may perform light routine office duties. Position may require working at alternate sites.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Graduate of an accredited training program of Diagnostic Medical Sonography or equivalent. (RDMS)
Experience: Two (2) years of Clinical Ultrasound experience.
Licensure: American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography. (RDMS)
Skills: Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology. Ability to recognize subtle differences between healthy and pathological areas. Ability to maintain harmonious and effective relationship with patients and personnel. Ability to adequately use, or learn to use, the department's computerized system and its associated devices.
