The candidate will be working within HNTB’s Digital Innovation Group as a part of the Virtual Design and Construction team that focus heavily on the advancement of VDC and BIM for design, construction, and operations/maintenance for both Vertical and Horizontal project types. As part of this team, the VDC Specialist’s primary duty is to advance the use of VDC and BIM for HNTB’s Civil Engineering services and deliverables. This position requires the ability to work with other Technologists within the team to develop, implement, train and support VDC and BIM for Civil and Architectural, while leading VDC and BIM for Civil and Architectural efforts as needed to support projects of medium to large scope.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions will include:

Serves as the technical lead in the development and implementation of VDC and BIM for horizontal and vertical technologies for all phases of a project (design, construction and operations/maintenance).

Has proven experience producing, leading, and managing VDC and BIM for horizontal and vertical services on complex civil infrastructure including; roads, bridges, rail, transit, and aviation projects.

Assist project teams, as needed to ensure successful planning and execution of VDC and BIM for horizontal and vertical on projects. This includes BIM Execution Plan Development, BIM Management, BIM Production, Training, and Support throughout all phases for projects of both medium and large scope.

Assist HNTB clients in determining VDC and BIM for horizontal and vertical technology solutions that best meet their immediate and long-term needs. Meets with client and technology staff, as needed to define and document system requirements. Develops system configuration specifications, conceptual and logical workflow, and business process diagrams for system development or customization.

Recommends enhancements or changes to HNTB technology, methodology, and process standards. Interactively and incrementally improves HNTB deliverables and processes.

Is knowledgeable of and follows industry trends to ensure VDC and BIM for horizontal and vertical technology efforts align with the current and future needs of our clients, as well as within our HNTB project teams.

Assists in the development of VDC and BIM for horizontal and vertical project scopes, fees, and proposals.

Experience with the following design applications listed below is required:

o Autodesk Civil 3D (3D Design & Analysis)

o Autodesk Infraworks

o Autodesk BIM 360

o Autodesk Navisworks Manage (Model Review, Clash Detection, and 4D Timeliner)

What You’ll Do:

Develops or customizes system configurations of moderately complex geospatial applications based on geospatial knowledge, the project requirements and an understanding of client needs.

Assists the client in determining survey and mapping needs and the most effective collection methods and technologies to meet those needs. Meets with client and technology staff to define and document system requirements. Develops system configuration specifications, conceptual and logical workflow and business process diagrams for system development or customization.

Creates and executes moderately complex system implementations according to established timeline, budget and quality expectations.

May lead small projects of limited scope and complexity.

Serves as a technical resource in the application of one or more geospatial platform technologies, such as Esri, Bentley, Autodesk, and Certainty 3D. Provides user support and solves moderately complex technical problems with geospatial systems.

Codes, tests, debugs and configures solutions at a moderate difficulty level. May perform peer reviews on work performed by junior staff. Thoroughly documents and tests all work produced.

Continually evaluates work processes and contributes to technology, methodology and process standards.

Performs other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Geography or other related degree

2 years related experience

In lieu of education, 6 years related experience

Autodesk Recap Pro

Autodesk Revit

Autodesk Forge

Autodesk Inventor

Bentley Microstation (OpenRoads, OpenRail, OpenBridge, iTwin)

Epic (UnReal Enging, TwinMotion)

Assist 3D Visualizations teams as needed to develop VDC and BIM for Civil workflows & processes for the creation of 3D Renderings, Animations, Augmented, Virtual and Mixed reality deliverables throughout all phases of the project.
