Pharmacy Tech

to join our Whitter Clinic Community Pharmacy team. This position is full-time with benefits, 80 hours per pay period, day/evening shift, and every 3rd weekend. Bilingual preferred: Somali, Arabic, or Spanish.$5000 Sign-On BonusA sign-on bonus is available for eligible external candidates. Current employees and former employees (rehired within 12 months) are not eligible. One year work commitment required.Purpose of this position:

Under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, performs a variety of technical and clerical duties allowable by law, while maintaining a favorable image of the pharmacy within the hospital and in the communityRESPONSIBILITIES:Answers phones for the pharmacy department and directs calls to appropriate personnelMaintains knowledge of the Hospital Credit and Collection Policy and other related policiesPrepackages, prepares, labels, and hands out prescriptions after they are checked by a registered pharmacistMaintains cash registers, credit card machines, and reporting for cash transactionsPrepares daily deposits for the cashier's officeBills and credits patient medicationsStocks inventory in PharmacyRoutinely checks and removes outdated and expired medicationsDelivers medications to patient care and ancillary areas and picks up new orders as scheduledFiles prescriptions and reportsMaintains the pharmacy in a clean and organized fashionEnters outpatient prescriptionsObtains and records patient drug historiesTriages orders, determines priorities, processes orders, and notifies the pharmacist as appropriatePerforms various calculations to determine the correct dose using weightIdentifies the appropriate product to process based on the prescription orderTriages insurance rejections and initiates prior authorization claims as neededUses appropriate pharmaceutical-medical terms, abbreviations, and symbolsMaintains a working knowledge of general chemical and physical properties of drugsCompounding medications as per Minnesota Board of Pharmacy rules and regulationsIs responsible for safe and careful handling of chemotherapeutic medicationsAssists with other duties as assigned but only after appropriate training

QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum Qualifications:High School Diploma or GEDGraduate of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program or a 240 hour employer based Technician training Program or 1,000 hours of Pharmacy experience

Preferred Qualifications:Computer skillsKnowledge of Pharmacy computer systemsInsurance and Billing Experience

License/Certifications:Current Pharmacy Technician Registration with MN State BoardPTCB or ExCPT pharmacy tech certification within 1 year of date of hire, paid for by employee
