JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Itinerant Speech Language Pathologist will provide services to support the instructional program at a variety of schools within the District.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Identify students with communication disabilities. Plan and implement appropriate treatment to minimize adverse impact on student success. Recommend treatment plans and provide direction to school staff. Create a speech/language program and classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth. Establish effective rapport with students. Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good educational foundation. Utilize technology to motivate students and prepare students for 21st Participate in school-related activities that enhance teacher, student, parent, and community relations. Analyze different data sources in making data-driven decisions for instruction. Establish a positive relationship with students, parents, co-workers, volunteers, and other visitors. Evaluate students to determine eligibility for services under Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Use current technology for instruction and management purposes. Perform other duties as assigned. REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of the laws, rules and regulations pertaining to the services and education of children with disabilities as well as other regulated programs. Knowledge of pediatric and adolescent development (cognitive and physical) and of medical and psychological diagnostic instruments as they relate to assessing the needs of children with disabilities. Knowledge of terms used to describe physical and learning disabilities. Ability to compile and analyze data, interpret the laws, policies, and regulations pertaining to the work. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Effective oral and written communication REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Professional Educator Certification. Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology or Communicative Disorders from a regionally accredited college/university. Minimum five (5) years of successful teaching experience in special education or related services. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
ASHA Certification and ABSESPA Licensure
