Pediatric Nephrologist

The CHOC Specialists is seeking a Board Certified/Eligible Pediatric Nephrologist to join a close knit 4-physician team as a fifth nephrologist is retiring after nearly 30 years of service with CHOC Specialists. The position offers an exceptional opportunity to provide patient and family centered care to a rising and expanding population base with robust inpatient/outpatient duties and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a leading pediatric hospital. Applicants should have strong clinical skills to provide care to a patient population diverse in background, socioeconomic status and complex renal diagnoses, including a relatively large chronic kidney disease and chronic nephropathy population. Applicants are expected to actively participate in program development, scholarly activities, and education. Call schedule and working environment are well balanced
Responsibilities :
Provide inpatient consultation services for the medical/surgical services, PICU, NICU, CVICU and oncology teamsProvide acute inpatient dialysisAttend outpatient clinics which includes team centered multidisciplinary clinics, outreach clinics in Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, Mission Viejo, Corona, Whittier as well as outpatient dialysis units including Hemodialysis and Peritoneal Dialysis. Can also participate in our 24hr ABPM program.Attend to additional multidisciplinary clinics in rheumatology/nephrology clinic, tuberous sclerosis clinic, fetal center clinic, Thrombotic Microangiopathy patient reviewCollaborate with local transplant centers for pre-transplant coordination of careParticipate in continuing medical education activities including pathology/nephrology conference, radiology/urology/nephrology conference, fetal center conference, presentations to community physicians, grand rounds, resident noon-conferenceTeach and mentor medical students and pediatric residents.Clinical research and scholarly activities to advance the field of pediatric nephrology and contribute to evidence-based care is encouraged and supported, with opportunity for academic appointment at the University of California, Irvine.Participate in a variety of CHOC Specialist committees, hospital program development and operations committees as well as quality improvement initiativesWork Environment:
