Department Description: Gateway Longview's Educational Services supports Pre-K through 12th grade students who struggle with behavioral, social, and emotional challenges. The goal of the program is to support the needs of individual students as they integrate back to traditional classrooms, or, to support their goal of graduation.

Compensation
$51,500 - $56,750 yearly
Offers based on education and years of relevant experience
Primary Goals of this Role:
Accurately assess assigned students' speech/language abilities, and formulate and implement appropriate I.E.P. goals and objectives. Maintain direct clinical contacts with assigned students, both individually and in groups, as indicated.
Assure as a member of the Pre-School/School Aged evaluation team, comprehensive and timely completion of speech/language evaluations as well as prompt and thorough consideration of all assigned referrals for admission to the program.
Complete initial and update assessments, screenings, summary and progress reports, contact notes, and other necessary professional documentation in an accurate, comprehensive, timely manner
Additional Responsibilities:
Assure timely communication of all essential information, including therapy recommendations/outcomes regarding assigned students, with appropriate education and clinical staff within education program, and with involved Committees on (PreSchool or school-age) Special Education or other community professionals/agencies.
Ensure that speech/language development is fully incorporated into the education program by educating and advising staff regarding the goals and methods of Speech/Language Therapy. Contribute to the on-going design, implementation, evaluation, and revision of program policies and practices.
Provide speech to children at any of the Therapeutic Preschool sites and/or related service sessions in the community (travel may be required).
Represent program through assigned committee work and presentations both within the agency and in the community.
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
New York State Certification as Teacher of the Speech/Hearing Impaired (Bachelor's) or Licensed Speech Language Pathologist (Master's) preferred.
Ability to work effectively with clients, families, staff and community contacts with a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds
Supervisor:
Director-Therapeutic Preschool
Hours & Location:
Non-Exempt position working during normal school hours; 12-month school year

** Our location is on the Metro Bus Route**
Work Environment:
Special Education Pre-School; 6:1:1 classroom
Requirements:
Background clearances will be administered upon acceptance.
Ability to physically restrain youth (when necessary) after successful completion of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention. Ukeru Crisis Management training also provided upon hire.
Candidates do not need their own vehicle, however, a valid NYS Driver's License is mandatory
