JFCAC is part of a nationwide network of Community Action Agencies committed to the war on poverty through innovative programs adapted to address our communities' specific needs. JFCAC offers a wide variety of programs designed to empower families and improve the quality of life for those living in the crisis of poverty.

We are looking for a Nutritionist who has expertise working with pediatric and adult patients to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with women, infants, and children, as well as the community as a whole. They should possess a background in dietetics and nutrition. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing and building dietetic services within the community setting including WIC programs and must be able to build positive relationships with patients, families and other staff.

Responsibilities:

The Nutritionist determines health and nutritional risk factors for certification and recertification for WIC program eligibility.

The Nutritionist consults with physicians, participants, and appropriate WIC officials regarding special formula usage. The Nutritionist assigns appropriate food and formula packages.

The Nutritionist prepares high risk care plans and provides follow-up counseling.

The Nutritionist refers participants to appropriate local resource agencies for additional social, health, and/or nutrition services.

The Nutritionist provides consultation to medical professionals regarding participants nutritional needs; provides one-on-one counseling with participants regarding health and nutritional needs; reviews and discusses assessments with participants and their families.

The Nutritionist develops annual program for nutrition, breastfeeding and activity oriented educational programs, seminars, and workshops for WIC and other community health programs.

The Nutritionist develops lesson plans for specific nutrition topics.

The Nutritionist teaches nutrition related classes, seminars, and workshops to groups, or one-on-one, to WIC participants and in other community health programs including promoting breastfeeding.

The Nutritionist prepares a variety of records and reports regarding nutritional needs of WIC and other community health program participants.

The Nutritionist documents nutrition education activities and prepares periodic reports for City, State, and Federal WIC and other health program officials.

Position Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in public health nutrition, dietetics, nutrition, food science, home economics, or closely related field that includes 15 hours in foods and nutrition, including one or more courses in diet therapy and community nutrition; or completion of an undergraduate curriculum approved by the American Dietetic Association is required.

Must successfully complete the State required WIC trainings within time designated by State WIC offices.
