Schedule: Monday-Friday 8a-5p, No wekends, No holidays & No call!

ResponsibilitiesJob Summary / Purpose

Under the supervision of a licensed health care practitioner, the Mohs technician functions as the testing personnel for the Mohs laboratory within the Physician Enterprise Dermatology Clinic. Responsible for specimen processing, test performance, reporting test results and participates in the delivery of patient care that promotes the well-being and safety of all patients and staff.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

Specimen handling and processing including gross, embed, cut, stain and coverslip specimens for microscopic evaluation by the surgeon following established policies and procedures.

Prepare and evaluate stains, reagents and solutions necessary for slide prep following established policies and procedures.

Perform quality control and preventative maintenance procedures to assure instruments, stains and procedures are within acceptable standards by taking corrective action if necessary and notifying lab director/licensed health care practitioner.

Assist with quality assurance and proficiency testing following established policies and procedures.

Assists with regulatory compliance by maintaining accurate records.

Adhere to OSHA, CLIA and HIPPA regulations.

Complete yearly competency testing.

Other duties as assigned by management and physician/provider.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:

Associates Degree in a life science discipline

Completion of Mohs Training Program

Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Assocation required upon hire

Clinical ability- ability to demonstrate competency in job related functions according to organizational standards
