We are seeking a
Cardiothoracic Surgeon
for a locum tenens position near Sioux City, IA. This role involves 24-hour call coverage and inpatient rounds in a hospital setting. The position requires the ability to handle a variety of adult cardiothoracic procedures, as well as trauma cases. This is an exciting opportunity for a physician looking to work independently in a supportive, high-volume environment.Position Details:Specialty : Cardiothoracic SurgeryLocation : Near Sioux City, IAStart Date : ASAP - OngoingShift Type : 24-hour shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 AMOn-Call Requirements : Yes, includes weekendsWorkload : 24-hour coverage with inpatient rounds, about 1 case per day with potential emergenciesHospital and Practice Setting:Hospital Size : 120+ beds with 24 ICU bedsTrauma Level : Level 2 Trauma CenterEmergency Room Volume : 30,000 annual visits (approximately 80 per day)Operating Rooms : 2 dedicated cardiovascular operating rooms with a specialized CVOR teamSupport Staff : Dedicated APP for inpatient management and clinic follow-ups, as well as a dedicated clinic nursePatient Load :
Clinic: 14 patients per dayHospital: 6 patients per dayAverage trauma cases: 10 per dayElective cases: 2 per day
EMR System : CernerProcedures and Skills Required:Adult Cardiothoracic Surgery :
Coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG) on pumpValve repair and replacementMaze procedures (including minimally invasive mini-maze)Ventricular aneurysmectomyGeneral thoracic surgeryTrauma cases
Other Procedures :
TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement) performed on WednesdaysTrauma managementVentricular aneurysmectomy
Supervision : Will supervise 1 PRN CT Surgery APPRequirements:Board Certification : Required in Cardiothoracic SurgeryIowa State License : Active or in progressDEA License : RequiredExperience : Strong experience in adult cardiothoracic procedures and trauma cases is essentialBenefits:Full travel accommodations provided (including flights, lodging, and transportation)Opportunity to work independently in a highly skilled and well-supported environment
