The mission of the Department of Neurology is to provide state of the art comprehensive patient centered neurological care for adults and children, perform translational and clinical research to further understanding of disease mechanisms and develop new treatments, and train the next generation of neurologists and clinical neuroscientists. The Department of Neurology is committed to enhancing diversity among its faculty, staff, and students. Chief Purpose of this position:
This position is an Open Rank (rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications), open tenure, full-time faculty position in the Division of Neuromuscular Medicine. This position will serve as a faculty member of the Division of Neuromuscular Medicine. The faculty member must possess national certification reflective of the graduate curriculum. The faculty member will provide patient care, engage in team member and community education, and participate in clinical research.
Position Responsibilities:
ClinicalPrimary clinical responsibilities include care of patients/families with neurological disorders.
TeachingThe faculty member will teach learners, staff and physicians regarding autonomic neurology, its goals and their role in the quality patient outcome while providing training/education of epilepsy nursing related care. The faculty member will also provide community education.
ResearchThe Division of Neuromuscular Medicine is engaged in clinical and translation research projects. The faculty member will be expected to participate in, and when appropriate lead, clinical research and clinical trials.
ServiceFaculty member will serve on departmental, School of Medicine, and/or University committees as necessary, as well as in a professional capacity in their field, e.g. reviewer, conference organizer, etc.
Required Qualifications:
BC/BE in NeurologyA specific subspecialty interest may be accommodated based on Departmental needsCompleted an accredited Autonomic Disorders FellowshipDemonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
