DescriptionThis position requires an individual who has significant employee and labor relations experience, deep subject matter knowledge, and strong communication and interpersonal skills that enables the individual to work successfully on a broad spectrum of employee and labor relations issues and projects. The position supports Amazons corporate businesses.The central objective of Amazons Global Corporate Employee Relations (GCER) team is to ensure our organizations treatment of employees is fair, respectful, and consistent with our framework of our core business values and objectives. To support that objective, this positions responsibilities fall into proactive and reactive categories.The individual will work as a project manager on proactive programs that improve the employee experience. The individual, for example, will work proactively to:Partner with people managers and HR teams to create and sustain positive ER initiatives and best practicesDesign and conduct multiple positive labor relations trainings and communications in partnership with Employment/Labor Legal teamsDesign, collect, and analyze multiple levels of employee sentimentPartner to engage in continuous improvement in communication mediums and practicesAnalyze, diagnose, design, and revise people programs, policies, and practices to sustain positive ERThe individual also will work reactively on critical ER issues that are crisis-oriented and escalations from business leadership and/or HR. These matters are ones that typically can only be successfully completed with limited time. Balancing time between projects and crisis-response is a critical component for success in the position.This position reports to the Principal, Employee Relations and is a full-time position that may require significant travel, up to 40% of the time over the course of the year to the various Amazon locations.Basic QualificationsSeven years direct experience in labor relations or labor lawBachelors degreeExperience in designing and delivering successful training programsTechnically proficient in MS Word, Excel, Access, & PowerPoint, with ability to become proficient with HTMLPreferred QualificationsAdvanced degree, JD, or other specialized training in labor/employee relationsSolid understanding of federal and state employment & labor laws, with some exposure to LATAM and/or Canadian labor lawsOutstanding written communication skills and the ability to independently develop effective executive level messaging, reports and presentationsStrong interpersonal and persuasion skills, enabling the individual to establish productive partnerships and work collaboratively across multiple management levels and personalities to influence senior leadership, stakeholders, peers and employees at all levels across a large, dispersed and culturally diverse organizationExperience working with quantitative and qualitative data to identify root causes, recognize patterns, and develop creative, innovative solutions for complex problemsProven problem solving and analytical skills in a highly ambiguous environment with the capacity to work autonomously to simultaneously manage competing prioritiesAbility to handle confidential and sensitive information with extreme discretionAmazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $189,500/year in our highest geographic market.
