is a unit for post Cardiac Cath patients after they have been recovered by the Cath Lab staff.

This unit may also take cardiac observation patients from the ED.

BLS, ACLS

Common diagnoses/Types of patients

Overflow observation bed patients from the ED or post op cardiac catheterization patients.

Experience or 'Must have' skills

Bi-Pap, C-Pap, telemetry, critical drips, Post Cardiac Cath experience preferred, two to three years intermediate experience preferred. Travel experience is required.

Are RNs required to titrate drips?

Yes

Common titratable &/or set rate drips

Cardizem, Heparin, Amiodarone, Lose dose Dopamine

Charge Nurse/House Supervisor

House Supervisor 24/7; A RN will be assigned to charge duties.

This could possibly be a traveler.

Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios

Yes, one PCT (C.N.A) for 12 patients; however, the nurses assist with general care and unit clerk duties when indicated

RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc)

C-Pap, Bi-Pap, High flow O2

Is there tele on this unit? Monitor techs? RNs read strips?

Bedside telemetry and central telemetry. RNs are required to read strips.

The unit will be open Sunday through Saturday and holidays.

Floating will be required to Med-Surg units as needed

Scrub Color/Dress code

RN/LPN

- Navy; C.N.As/Monitor Techs - Dark Grey/Pewter, scrubs must be solid color, no embroidery and/or patterns on scrubs. WVU Medicine or solid color fleece zip-ups may be worn in grey, black, navy or royal blue. Solid undershirts may be worn in white, grey, or black in matching color to the scrub top. Closed toed shoes only. No crocs.

Unit/Department specific orientation

First day general hospital orientation; Full day of Nursing Orientation for RNs/LPNs; Computer training (1/2 day for C.N.As, full day for nurses); Two, 12 hour orientation shifts with a preceptor; Will receive an abbreviated Initial Skills Checklist due 90 days from start date.Tact Medical Staffing Job ID #485629.
