About the Opportunity
The Associate Director, Loans & Operations will direct and manage operations for the full complement of university disbursement processes and all educational loan processing within Student Financial Services. Disbursement processing includes but is not limited to PowerFAIDS disbursement setup, scheduling and maintenance; scheduling and execution of system processes; exception reporting; related staff communications and training; and fund reconciliation and reporting. This includes all federal, institutional, state and outside funding for all divisions, currently up to $1 billion annually.
This position will:Maintain primary responsibility for the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program, including origination, disbursement, reconciliation and all related staff training. Assist with hiring, training and supervising loan staff.In conjunction with Director of Financial Aid Systems Processes, serve as primary contact and liaison with Student Financial Services, Student Accounts, Registrar, Admissions and all outside agencies.Support the Director of Financial Aid Systems Processes and Assistant Director of Fed/State Aid with the reconciliation of Pell Grants and State Aid.Train all staff within Student Financial Services on the policies and procedures relating to educational loan processing, disbursements and refunds.Monitor and certify federal and private loan programs in compliance with federal regulation, financial aid office policies and university procedure.Prepare and maintain strategies for debt management for student borrowers.Advise and counsel undergraduate students/families on the availability of financial aid, the delivery process for receiving it, and the reconciliation process required to insure that financial aid funds are transferred to Student Accounts.QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree required; advance degree preferred.Four to seven years of progressively responsible experience in a financial aid office and prior supervisory experience required.Strong knowledge and experience with Ellucian/Banner strongly preferred.Prior experience with a recent version of PowerFAIDS preferred.Understanding of Profile and the differences between IM and FM preferred.Knowledge of federal regulations and requirements for compliance, experience with complex, institutional awarding strategies and expertise with state/federal funding processes.An understanding of econometric modeling and other relevant statistical tools preferred.A proven understanding of the dynamics of a complex and culturally diverse university community.Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills as well as demonstrated creative and analytical abilities.Strong compliance and business process skills are a plus.
