Overview

The Speech Language Pathologist Specialist assesses and treats patients who have speech, language, voice, fluency, swallowing, and cognitive disorders. This position is a therapist who is a subject matter expert in daily operations and/or specific area of patient care. The Speech Language Pathologist Specialist serves as a resource for area of expertise and guides clinical practice, quality improvement, and program development in support of the manager. This therapist is sought out to provide education related to their specialty. This position effectively and efficiently performs all Speech Language Pathologist essential job functions seamlessly between all diagnoses and complexities.Talent Pool: Allied HealthResponsibilities

Oversees thorough evaluations of patients' physical abilities, medical history, and functional limitations and synthesizes all information to develop individualized treatment plans.Administers therapeutic exercises and other speech language pathology interventions to improve patients' strength, flexibility, and range of motion.Educates patients and their families on treatment plans, home exercises, and self-management techniques to improve recovery outcomes.Collaborates with others in developing and implementing discharge plans and recommendations for continued care.Reviews patients' progress, treatment outcomes, and responses to interventions so that treatment plans can be adjusted as needed.Collaborates on teams from different departments to ensure coordinated patient care and holistic treatment outcomes.Provides mentoring and guidance utilizing evidence-based practice to others.Leads clinical practice in specified area and keeps abreast of leading practices and presents information for considerations and incorporation into practice.Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

Required: Master's degree in Speech PathologyEXPERIENCE:

Required: 7 yearsLICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:

Required:Certificate of Clinical Competence by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or is eligible to receive it through a Clinical Fellowship Year.Licensed by the North Carolina Board for Speech Pathologists and Audiologists during their Supervised Experience Year.BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
