Brice Civil Constructors, Inc. Brice performs large heavy civil construction operations to include large scale civil projects, drainage, repair of earthen dams and levees, roadways, bridges, airfields, parks, ranges, and stormwater management, water supply, wastewater collection, and on-site wastewater treatment systems for federal, states, and local entities.
What can you expect?
As the Quality Control Manager/Project Engineer you are responsible for assisting the Project Manager, onsite Superintendent, and Foreman with the management, documentation, and execution of projects. You are responsible for the overall management of project quality control program design, monitoring, and assurance of projects.
How will you do it?
Interpret plans and contract terms including job cost coding.Ensure that field activities adhere to contract plans, specs, and company policies.Coordinate work schedules, communications, and work activities with job subcontractors.Complete daily project reporting that includes cost analysis, timekeeping, environmental and permit compliance, daily reports, quality assurance/quality control, quantities, and safety program documentation.Be responsible for the overall implementation and management of project quality control and have the authority to act in all project quality control matters on behalf of Brice.Direct inspections and audit programs, and initiate corrective actions based on review of data or customer input.Coordinate project activities between office management and field management.Ensure effective communication and coordination among all project participants.Ensure compliance with current project schedule and project completion documentation.Work with Cost Accounting to manage the financial aspects of the contract to protect company interest and maintain good relations with customers.Determine supplies and materials needed to complete projects and requisition same.Formulate reports including work progress and cost schedules.Assist in negotiation and buyout of subcontractors and vendors.Keep a presence in the field when work is being performed.Maintain quantities and apprise the Superintendent of all costs and quantities.Enter information to USACE QCS/RMS software daily.Use survey equipment to collect data and provide layout locations and topography surveys for various projects.Manage, process, and ensure the quality of survey data being sent in from the field.Bring data (survey) from the field and process it into a database and map deliverables.Ensure good cartography and engineering design with proper scaling.Document fieldwork with job diary, photographs, and video logs.Review and calculate quantities upon receipt of pay estimate.Coordinate tasks with the grade checker.Communicate with the grade checkers for quantity calculations.Administer site storm water pollution prevention plan (SWPPP).Maintain an organized office space and field office.Draft professional correspondence as required.Document work changes and conditions for the Superintendent, Project Manager, and other team members as required.Assist with project health, safety, and environmental requirements.Assist team members with updating project schedules.Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.Perform other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Strong personnel management skills and ability to enforce Federal, State, and company labor and employment regulations.Adequate knowledge of database software, spreadsheet software, Microsoft Office software, and standard industry software; Microsoft packages preferred.Technical knowledge of various field construction concepts, practices, and procedures.Knowledge of computer-based construction and scheduling programs; experience and familiarity with RMS.Knowledge of job costing and accounting procedures and/or the ability to learn costing and accounting procedures and to learn computer-based construction and scheduling programs.Skilled in organizing resources, establishing priorities, meeting deadlines, and general time management.Read and interpret documents such as contract documents (plans and specifications), safety rules, schedules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Write routine reports and correspondence.Perform required calculations and data interpretation. Compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.Communicate with employees, business partners, and clients professionally and effectively via written and verbal communication methods.Work independently and cooperatively with others; ability to work with employees, business partners, and customers in a friendly and positive manner.Visualize, articulate, and solve complex problems and concepts, and make decisions based on available information.Use judgment and discretion. Manage stressful situations and effectively plan and organize duties to meet deadlines.Handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Work with concentration, accuracy, and attention to detail.Analyze and resolve complex issues, both logical and interpersonal.Participate in and facilitate group meetings.Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position may direct the work of craft and other project workers as needed and directed.
Who is Brice Civil Constructors looking for?
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management required. 7 years of experience as QCM may be substituted instead of a degree.5 years of construction experience on USACE projects required.Construction Quality Management (CQM) for Contractors Certification required.First-Aid/CPR/AED Certification required.Federal Client experience required.Experience with surveying equipment and methods required.Valid state driver's license and must be qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the company's driving policy. Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely and efficiently.Must have the ability to travel to remote project sites for extended periods. This position requires travel to project locations in Alaska about 70%-90% of the time thus requires a willingness to work a flexible schedule.Ability to pass a drug, driving record, and background screening.Preferred Qualifications:
