Qualifications:

A valid license from MDE indicating endorsement in Speech-Language Pathology (Mississippi Certification Code 215) Master's Degree preferred

ASHA certified

Reports To:

Director of Special Services and Assigned School Principal

*TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: * 187 days

JOB SUMMARY

To provide appropriate speech-language services to Pre-K through 12th grades students, which address personal, social/emotional, academic and vocational needs that affect student academic achievement

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Implement building/therapy schedules Provide direct/indirect therapy services for student in the speech/language program Provide therapy services through continuous evaluation and annual updating of the student's Individual Education Plan Submit reports and conduct eligibility meetings in order to meet timelines and compliance requirements of local, state and federal regulations Perform and interpret diagnostic evaluations to determine eligibility and appropriate recommendations Maintain an accurate and up-to-date roll of speech/language students; submit roll to appropriate personnel, including the principal, Director of Special Education, Gifted and Testing Services, and the data clerk Provide consulting services to parents, teachers, administrators, and colleagues Establish a referral/screening and evaluation system for speech/language services (i.e., articulation tracking for elementary, new referrals, three-year comprehensive reassessments) Serve as a member of the multidisciplinary team in the referral/diagnostic process Support hearing screening program and provides input assistance when needed

Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations. Attend meetings and performs duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation. Serve on committees as assigned. Remain current on instructional practices in education. (e.g. instructional technology)
