Position Overview:
The position of Project Leader 1 is responsible for supporting the overall strategy, execution of deliverables, project completion & profitable outcomes for a significantly complex project &/or multiple projects simultaneously. This position will require proficient understanding and knowledge of multi-discipline systems including Critical Power, Power Distribution, UPS & Modular Construction Delivery.
The Project Leader 1 is expected to provide overall development, training & leadership to Junior Project Leadership, Field-Superintendents & Trades personnel as it relates to the strategic
planning, overall implementation & ownership of project completion.
Position Requirements:
· Required to hold direct experience & clear understanding with the execution of several phases in the project-life cycle included below:
o Initial Planning & Proposal Creation
o Design & Engineering
o Project Solutioning
o Field Installation
o Close-Out Methods
· Previous experience & personal exposure to one or more of the following key-solution services including Prime Turnkey Design-Build/Design-Assist & Preconstruction capabilities.
· Proven understanding of key-competencies aligned to the project planning; installation & project completion required to ensure overall project-success.
o Engineering & Design Development
o Bid-Package creation & final estimate review.
o Project Schedule development & tracking
o Project Financials & Cost Tracking
o Business Acumen & Leadership abilities
o Ability to develop, maintain & saturate key-industry clientele.
o Knowledge & understanding of contract language, with experience in negotiation.
o Clear understanding of at-risk & mitigation strategies related to construction management.
o Experienced in the Commissioning & Testing of diverse specialty systems
Position Responsibilities:
· Responsible for ensuring leadership, direction & mentorship to all project-team members to ensure effective collaboration & positive work environments.
· Leads a project team in the preparation of project documentation to include project & manpower requirements, project layouts & scheduling of resources, detailed equipment plans & supporting the field-employees as required.
· Primarily responsible for coordinating, planning & leading the project kick-off meetings for project teams involved.
· Ability to develop a Work Breakdown Structure for the assigned project with properly named work packages & resources assigned to the appropriate tasks to establish a baseline resource plan.
· Executes & provides site surveys, cost studies & projected costs, budget forecasting & any additional financial & cost requirements of the contractor-perform work.
· Responsible for identifying opportunities for cost-saving measures, quality improvements & execution of best practices.
· Ability to measure the project-scope & performance against the project plan to ensure the project is within appropriate cost variances, budget-expectations & schedule timeframes.
· Partners directly with the Customer to create & manage the project schedule if requested.
· Timely completion & accuracy of project punch-list items, as-built drawing submittals & ensuring employee accessibility to the appropriate training materials.
· Maintains a positive, respectful & productive partnership with all leadership & support-team members including Senior Engineering Leads, Superintendents & Foreman, Junior Project Leadership & Project Controls personnel to achieve project-milestones.
· Leads the acquisition of permits & licenses required, along with ensuring that all inspections are appropriately completed within the discussed timeframe.
Education, Experience & Technical Qualifications:
· Minimum 7+ years of experience in construction specific to Electrical Systems, Power Distribution &/or Critical Power industries with a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or an Engineering discipline with a strong preference to Electrical or Mechanical.
· 5+ years of related construction experience with a Master’s Degree with a preference in Construction Management or Engineering.
· Required knowledge within construction management functions including self-perform contracting, field coordination efforts, maintenance of schedule & prioritization of deliverable deadlines tied to each specialty-trade simultaneously.
· Minimum 5+ years of experience & established knowledge in complex markets on projects specific to Federal, Government, Commercial & Mission Critical sectors.
· Extensive experience leading diverse teams & projects with construction budgets valued between $2M - $30M+ in total contract value.
· Ability to properly utilize software including Bluebeam, Accubid, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Microsoft Office & Excel.
· Ability to obtain a security clearance if required for the project.
· Ability to travel up to 50% as required for the program.
Abilities:
· Exposure to computer screens for an extended period.
· Sitting for extended periods of time.
· Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction.
· Have finger dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms, for example, using a keyboard.
· Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
· Communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
· Read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
· Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
