Position Summary: Zuni Public School District is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Assistant Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will support licensed Speech-Language Pathologists in assessing, diagnosing, and treating students with speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders. This role involves working directly with students under the supervision of a licensed SLP to implement treatment plans and support therapeutic goals.
Key Responsibilities: •
Student Assessment and Treatment: o Assist in evaluating students' speech, language, and communication skills using standardized tests and observational methods. o Implement individualized treatment plans designed by the supervising SLP, focusing on improving communication skills and swallowing functions. o Monitor and record student progress, providing detailed reports and feedback to the supervising SLP.
• Therapeutic Support: o Conduct therapy sessions under the guidance of the supervising SLP, using techniques and exercises to address specific speech and language disorders. o Adapt and modify therapy activities to meet the individual needs of students. o Educate students and their families about speech-language disorders and therapy strategies.
• Documentation and Reporting: o Maintain accurate and confidential student records, including progress notes and therapy reports. o Prepare and submit documentation required for insurance claims and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Collaboration and Communication: o Collaborate with the SLP team, educators, and other school professionals to ensure comprehensive care and effective communication. o Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of treatment plans and strategies.
• Administrative Duties: o Assist with scheduling therapy sessions and managing student appointments. o Handle clerical tasks such as filing, organizing student files, and ordering supplies as needed. o Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Speech-Language Pathology, or a related field. • Certification or licensure as an Assistant Speech-Language Pathologist as required by state regulations. • Prior experience in a clinical or educational setting preferred. • Strong understanding of speech and language disorders and therapy techniques. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, families, and school professionals. • Proficiency in documenting student progress and managing administrative tasks. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements: • Ability to lift and move equipment and materials up to [specify weight, e.g., 25 pounds]. • Capable of sitting or standing for extended periods during student sessions.
Work Environment: • This position will primarily be based in school settings, including classrooms and therapy rooms. • Flexibility in scheduling may be required to accommodate student needs.
