Position Overview:

The Controller will report directly to the CFO and is responsible for the accuracy and oversight of the general ledger accounting and payroll functions, the accounting and technical review for accounting of development expenses and clinical trials. The position requires an experienced leader and manager who demonstrates both analytical and in-depth technical skills on accounting principles and practices, accounting research, SEC reporting requirements and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry.

Key Responsibilities:Implement and manage private company accounting practices while preparing the company to transition into a publicly traded company.Review critical account reconciliations and continually improve the monthly and quarterly closing processes.Identify and implement improvements to finance processes to streamline work and enhance controls.Work closely with the CFO on analysis and reports to support internal and external financial reporting.Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements ensuring compliance with GAAP and SEC reporting requirements with the ability to identify new GAAP matters and assess impact on the business.Assist in preparing Audit Committee Meeting Packages, including summary of actual operations results.Prepare for and coordinate quarterly review, annual audit by auditors and necessary tax filings.Demonstrated SEC reporting/filing knowledge including extensive experience preparing 8-K's, 10-Q's, and 10-K's (financial statements, footnotes, Selected Financial Data, Management's Discussion, etc.).Manage a Sarbanes-Oxley compliance program including the development of financial reporting controls, maintenance of all required documentation, review of quarterly and annual control testing, and reporting quarterly and annual results to executive management, external auditors and the Audit Committee, as appropriate.Experience and Required Skills:

Requires a strong financial background with a bachelor's degree in business, accounting or finance and CPA certification. An MBA is preferred, and Big Four public accounting experience is highly desirable.Minimum of 10+ years of experience in an accounting/finance role working in fast growing companies with experience in taking a private company public.Prior experience as a Controller with responsibility for accounting and financial controls, or experience in auditing public companies and working with them on filings with the SEC.Demonstrated capability to manage complicated data consolidations and create timely, useful and accurate reports.Implementing and maintaining NetSuite across an organization.Self-starter with good analytical skills, builds strong relationships, has a proven track record of client/vendor management, and possesses excellent business communications skills including writing and presentation capabilities.Ability to communicate (orally and in writing) professionally when dealing with employees, vendors, company contacts and the Board of Directors/Audit Committee.Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills to collaborate with all levels of an organization, strong organizational and multitasking capabilities, analytical and detail-oriented flexibility in adapting to a fast-paced environment.

Salary:

Ranges from $240,000 to $265,000
