Job Description SummaryThe Director of Ambulatory Services Primary Care reports to MUSC Health Executive Director of Ambulatory Services. The Director of Ambulatory Services, in collaboration with Integrated Centers of Clinical Excellence (ICCE) and College of Medicine (COM) department leaders and Directors of Nursing, is responsible for overseeing the operations of a group of primary care ambulatory practices. The Director participates in long-range strategic planning and short-range implementation to ensure sites are managed in a consistent manner that embraces patient-centered service, service excellence standards and utilizes efficient operational processes. In addition to providing operational oversight, this role is a key collaborator with the relevant departments and a thought leader in ambulatory quality and safety, coordination of care across the continuum, use of technological tools and solutions, metrics reporting, customer service, and process improvement.

Job Description

Financial Stewardship - Oversight of the overall financial performance of ambulatory clinics. In conjunctions with ICCE Leadership, develop annual operating and capital budgets. Monitor and analyze budgetary trends. Implement strategies to increase revenue/decrease costs and cost-effectively manage personnel, supply and equipment resources. Make necessary adjustments to ensure goals are achieved and/or meet budget projections. Recognize opportunities for increases in productivity, cost savings, and revenue.Overall responsibility for the operations of ambulatory clinics. Develop structure and processes that ensure effective daily operation that coordinate patient care, optimize efficiency and through put. Collaborate with ICCE Leaders to plan and manage strategic initiatives aimed at achieving MUSC Health's organizational goals including access to care, volume, patient experience, quality and other performance metrics.Patient and Family Centered Service Delivery Model - Establish and maintain a patient-centered service delivery model, consistent amongst all ambulatory clinics, measured by excellent patient care and patient satisfaction. Focus on customer service and foster an environment that promotes high quality, efficiency and patient-centered care.Quality and Safety - Ensure care team members provide the highest quality of care and are in compliance with Federal, State and other regulatory agency standards. Collaborate with ICCE and Nursing Leadership in establishing, implementing and maintaining patient care, quality and service standards. In conjunction with ICCE and Nursing Leadership, analyze sentinel events/errors and develop/implement strategies to address the conditions that contributed to these situations.Leadership and Staff Development - Provide leadership to managers within Ambulatory Services to direct day to day operations, identify improvement opportunities, monitor success, and provide professional development. Ensure alignment of organizational goals amongst ambulatory leaders and staff. Create an environment conducive to retaining staff and to learning. Implement strategies to improve employee satisfaction.

Additional Job Description

Minimum Training and Education:

Master's degree in healthcare related field such as Nursing, Healthcare Administration or MBA is required. Five (5) years of management work experience in ambulatory care leadership role or appropriate clinical area required; demonstrated ability to work effectively with physician leaders; talent in the selection and mentoring of a high-quality, effective team; proven ability to lead change, organize teams, and delegate responsibility appropriately; proven ability to use data to drive performance improvement; strong written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

Continuous requirements are to perform job functions while standing, walking and sitting. Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, reach in all directions. Maintain 20/40 vision corrected, see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance, work in a latex safe environment and work indoors. Frequently lift and/or carry objects weighing 20 lbs (+/-) unassisted. Lift from 36" to overhead 15 lbs. Infrequently work in dusty areas and confined/cramped spaces.
