Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a world-renowned academic research institute of Louisiana State University, is seeking a MRI Technologist/Radiologic Technologist in Biomedical Engineering.

Major ResponsibilitiesPerform radiological imaging services. ARRT Registration and LA State Board Radiology Technology Board Certification required.

MRI/MRS scanning of research subjects

Maintain subject safety by prescreening subjects, providing explanation of scans, and maintaining safety of equipment.

Perform daily equipment checks to ensure equipment is safe and ready to use.

Assist in implementing new MRI and MRS techniques through researching, testing on phantoms and human volunteers, and troubleshooting as necessary.

Verifies that digital images are properly matched to the patient and that the image quality is acceptable.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Possession of a Louisiana license to practice as a Radiologic Technologist plus one year of experience in diagnostic radiology.

Differs from Radiologic Technologist 3 by the absence of specialized modality imaging, such as CT, MRI, mammography, or other special procedures.Examples of Work

Performs daily equipment checks to ensure that all radiographic equipment is safe and ready to use.

Produces diagnostic radiographs and/or fluoroscopic images and maintains consistent techniques based on composite standards of the department.

Differentiates between film, CR and DR imaging formats and adjusts techniques accordingly.

Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis.

Selects and operates equipment and accessories on an individual patient basis.

Positions patient to obtain proper anatomical part which has been ordered by the physician.

Provides protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.

Performs general image handling duties such as processing digital images and merging images.
