OverviewCFR Outreach works to raise the profile of the organization and develop relationships with communities across the United States. Current initiatives focus on college and university students, educators, and administrators; state and local officials; local journalists; and congregational leaders and representatives of faith-based organizations. We are also currently developing a fifth initiative focused on the technology industry.

The program coordinator will work mainly on the Students and Educators Initiative, which provides programming for college and university students, educators, and administrators to foster understanding of global affairs and cultivate relations with the academic community, under the direction of the National Program and Outreach department vice president, director, and assistant director.

The position is based in New York on a hybrid work schedule, with travel three to four times a year. CFR currently defines hybrid status as working at least three days a week onsite, with Tuesdays and Thursdays considered institutional anchor days where all staff are required to be onsite.

The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):

Supporting or coordinating (in conjunction with the assistant director) the CFR Students and Educators Initiative’s virtual and in-person programming and events, including two webinar series, briefings, CFR’s annual College and University Educators Workshop, and external conferences across the country. Tasks include generating speaker and topic ideas, scheduling and implementation of events, drafting and managing correspondence, preparing meeting materials, attending conferences, and writing reports.

Growing CFR’s Outreach community and expanding its impact through audience development by identifying and building relationships with new and diverse contacts in academia.

Contributing to communications and resource dissemination efforts by maintaining webpages, conducting email campaigns, and placing advertisements.

Tracking metrics and conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis across program offerings for reporting purposes and as a basis for strategic decisions.

CRM database upkeep.

Supporting other team members and organization-wide projects and programming as needed, including attending and working at National Program and Outreach events held outside of business hours.

Serving as departmental liaison for organization-wide projects.

Providing other general logistical and project support to the department, as needed.

Qualifications

Two + years of experience working in outreach, partnerships, international relations, academia, government, or community engagement. Event or program management experience preferred.

BA in international relations or related field with proven interest in current U.S. foreign policy and international affairs issues.

Excellent organizational and time management skills with an ability to multitask and meet deadlines.

Enthusiastic team player with a positive and flexible attitude who can work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment.

Strong verbal and written skills; ability to communicate effectively with multiple audiences.

Keen attention to detail; demonstrable experience in organizing events with highly scheduled principals.

Intermediate technology, data analysis, content management skills.

Availability to work flexible hours and overtime, as necessary.

Salary

$58,000 to $62,000 per year

Pay commensurate with experience and education
