Position Summary

Winnie Palmer Hospital is seeking for an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to provide safe transfer of patients to local facilities, discharges and outlying facilities.

Located on the downtown Orlando Health campus, Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies provides specialized care that covers all facets of women's health, from comprehensive gynecological services and minimally invasive surgeries to general obstetrics and high-risk pregnancies and births. Orlando Health Winnie Palmer welcomes nearly 14,000 babies each year. Our 350-bed hospital includes 142 beds in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs), making Orlando Health Winnie Palmer one of the largest NICUs in the nation. We are proudly the first - and only - hospital in Florida to offer in utero surgery to repair spina bifida. Responsibilities

Essential Functions

Documentation of each transfer to include type of transfer and destination of patient being transported.Communicates appropriate patient information with RN/RRT/Paramedic when transfer is by ambulance on the appropriate run sheet.Demonstrates competency in advanced unit specific tasks and skills as defined by unit specific competency list.Communicates appropriate information regarding the patient?s condition to the RN and other members of the healthcare team.Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.Other Related Functions

Maintains a calm courteous manner with all patients, co-workers and other contacts.Maintains a clean and safe working environment within confines of the department/ambulance.Assists RN/RRT/Paramedic in supply and stocking of all ALS unitsDemonstrates awareness of legal issues, patient rights and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies.Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned department. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient?s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient?s requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the department?s policies and procedures.Qualifications

Experience

One (1) year of ambulance driving experience and/or Fire Department experience.

Education/Training

High school graduate or equivalentSuccessful completion of Emergency Medical Technician program from approved/accredited Department of Transportation (DOT) program. May also be a graduate of an additional paramedic program.Licensure/Certification

Current Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license or Paramedic (PMD) license in the State of Florida renewed every two (2) years.Maintain current Basic life support certification (BLS).Emergency Vehicle Operator's Certificate (EVOC) certification.Valid Florida driver?s license with no more than six (6) points, at least 21 years of age, and must be insurable under the Orlando Health Insurance carrier's requirements and standards.
