Description
The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for leading and overseeing a team of engineers in the design and development of products, ensuring adherence to quality standards, project timelines, and safety protocols. This role involves providing technical guidance, managing resources, and ensuring smooth communication between engineering, manufacturing, and sales teams. The Engineering Supervisor will also collaborate with customers to meet specific project requirements and lead reverse engineering efforts during site visits, which may involve travel and overnight stays.
Summary of Responsibilities
Team Leadership: Supervise and guide a team of engineers, providing technical expertise and mentorship to ensure high-quality output and professional growth.Safety Compliance: Ensure all engineering activities are performed with a focus on safety, enforcing safe work practices across the team.Project Management: Oversee project timelines, resource allocation, and deliverables, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and to the required quality standards.Technical Design Oversight: Review and approve 2D and 3D CAD models, drawings, and designs generated by the engineering team. Provide feedback and make necessary adjustments to maintain precision and quality.Customer Collaboration: Work closely with customers to understand their needs, provide technical insights, and ensure product designs align with their requirements. Facilitate communication between customers and internal departments such as customer service and sales.Reverse Engineering: Travel to job sites, when necessary, to lead the measurement and analysis of equipment for reverse engineering purposes using hand tools and point scanners.Standards and Practices: Ensure all designs and assemblies comply with ANSI and ISO dimensioning and tolerancing standards.Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and innovation of the engineering team.Other Duties: Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager, which may include performing program changes, attending client meetings, and resolving production issues.Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.5+ years of engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software, including Autodesk/AutoCAD/Inventor.Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple departments.Experience with ANSI and ISO standard dimensioning and tolerancing.Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Experience in reverse engineering and the use of hand tools and point scanners is a plus.Advanced problem-solving and mathematical skills.
