Beacon Clinic was founded for the purpose of delivering a level of care that we, as a team, can all be proud of. We are a patient-focused cancer and rheumatology center that is committed to providing the highest quality of medical care and supportive services. We were founded in 2018 by Dr. David Bartels, focusing on cancer and blood conditions. Today, we provide care services to not only Medical Oncology and Hematology, but Radiation Oncology, and Rheumatology patients as well. We are also dedicated to advancing the field by engaging in clinical research and offering our patients the opportunity to participate in various clinical trials.

Beacon is looking for an additional pharmacist to join our team. While the immediate need is for a part-time pharmacist at about 20-hours a week, we would be willing to discuss full-time as well.

Position Summary:

Serves patients in a growing hematology and oncology practice by dispensing drugs prescribed by Beacon providers, building regimens, and working closely with Clinical Pharmacist Manager, Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technicians, and Oral Dispensing Pharmacy Technicians to ensure the prescribed drugs are being mixed and handled accordingly before being delivered to our patients.Duties/Responsibilities:

Be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team of oncologists, advanced practice providers, and nurses.Evaluate appropriateness and verify chemotherapy orders which includes extensive profile and lab reviews.Serve as medication expert by providing drug information and ensuring the optimum use of medications.Represent department within several multidisciplinary committeesInvolvement in formulary management, medication use, and drug policies for oncology-specific drugs.Review treatment plans for patients daily by ensuring doses and timing of treatment are correct, modifying doses if labs indicate a need, making recommendations if there are side effects, and monitoring patient weight and blood pressureProvides information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage.Plans, implements, and maintains procedures for mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals according to policy and legal requirements to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal.Collaborates with other health care professionals to plan, monitor, review, and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of drugs and drug regimens, providing advice on drug applications and characteristics.Create and review regimen templates for the practice including ensuring premeds, administration duration, sequence, and labs are correct and adding/removing activities.Analyzes prescribing trends to monitor patient compliance and to prevent excessive usage or harmful interactions.Orders and purchases pharmaceutical supplies, medical supplies, and drugs, maintaining stock and storing and handling it properly.Assist in prior authorizations for treatments.Review new drugs and educate staff on reconstitution, administration, side effects, and side effect management.Consult topics such as safe handling of hazardous drugs, oral chemotherapy specialty pharmacy, and any pharmacy related questions.When the Clinical Pharmacist Manager is absent, the Pharmacist will cover the supervisory responsibilities as acting Pharmacy Manager.Required Skills/Abilities:

Compassionate and caring bedside manner.Excellent knowledge of chemistry and specific drug interactions.Excellent attention to detail and ability to balance competing priorities.Preferred Education and Experience:

Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree.Completion of PGY-2 in oncology pharmacy or BCOP preferred.Must be licensed.Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
