The Electrical Test Engineer will be directly involved in the testing and overall validation of our Industrial/Commercial power generators. This person works closely with Production, Engineering, and R&D Teams to assist on new designs, perform customer witness tests, perform root cause analysis, and develop solutions for any issues identified during the testing process.
This position reports to the Operations Engineering Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct testing on our Industrial/Commercial products including the assembly of test systems, wiring, configuring products, utilizing load banks, conducting component and system level tests.
This testing involves working with running I.C.E. engines while validating their electrical outputs/requirements.
Support the development of component and system level Test Plans and Test Procedures.
Perform root cause analysis and develop troubleshooting solutions for issues identified during manufacturing, end of line testing, R&D, and/or field.
Formally document Test Plans, Test Procedures, Test Reports, and any technical issues.
Drive the resolution of technical issues and escalate significant issues to engineering leadership.
Collaborate with other engineers, internal manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, designers and product specialists to optimize complex designs.
Mentor and teach less experienced engineers and technicians.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Industrial Technology
5+ years related experience in the Engineering function within a similar working environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Experience with I.C.E. engines.
Experience with troubleshooting electrical issues/test validation plans. AC/DC.
Experience with voltages 480V to 15,000V and control voltages
Experience developing component and/or system level Test Plans, Test Procedures, and Test Reports
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Competence and experience working with diesel and natural gas internal combustion engines.
Experience with working with Low/Medium voltage AC/DC along with control voltage.
Skills and experience determining the root cause of complex electronic hardware issues identified during testing, manufacturing or in the field.
Strong decision-making skills.
Excellent oral and written communication.
Ability to conduct hands-on testing in the shop environment as required.
Physical Demands
: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
