Primary Purpose :

Plan and provide speech-language pathology services to students with a variety of communication disorders. Evaluate students and provide therapy to eliminate or reduce impairments which impact the students' ability to derive full benefit from the educational program.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited college or universityValid Texas license as a speech-language pathology intern granted by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR)Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA)Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of and experience with a variety of assessment toolsKnowledge of therapy strategies to address a variety of communication disordersKnowledge of and ability to implement strategies to address student behaviorAble to communicate and collaborate effectively with others and have strong organizational skillsAble to meet timelinesExperience:

One (1) year supervised clinical speech-language pathology experienceMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Assessment and TherapyConduct independent evaluations to assess students with speech or language disorders and provide appropriate individual and group therapy to students consistent with speech and language goals contained in Individual Education Plans (IEP). Evaluate student progress and make determinations regarding therapy services based on data collection.Conduct re-evaluations of identified students in accordance with state and federal regulations.Participate in the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee. Assist in interpretation of assessment data, appropriate placement, and goal setting for students with communication disorders or conditions according to district procedures.Develop and implement Individual Education Plans for students as determined by the ARD/IEP Committee.Develop clinical management strategies or procedures and diagnostic statements.Consultation

Consult with colleagues, students, and parents regarding the accomplishment of therapy goals, the needs of the student, and involvement in remedial process.Collaborate with classroom teachers to plan and implement classroom activities to improve communication skills of students.Provide professional development in assigned schools to help school personnel identify and work more effectively with students with communication deficits.Provide information and support to parents when appropriate.Interact with other agencies when appropriate.Serve as a resource to the campus staff in the area of speech and language and collaborate with classroom teachers to implement effective services for student.Student Management

Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the maturity level and interests of students.Establish control and administer discipline according to the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.Program Management

Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of speech-language pathology services and make changes based on the findings.Participate in the selection of equipment and instructional materials.Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required by local, state, and federal guidelines.Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, State Board of Education rule, and board policy. Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.Other

Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise licensed assistant therapists when assigned. Mentor fellow therapists when assigned.

Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of Speech-Language Pathologist.

Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals

Posture: Standing, prolonged sitting, occasional kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing pulling, and twisting

Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; may also require climbing stairs and reaching over head

Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds); May require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds)

Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent district wide travel; all campuses are temperature controlled with hard surface floors

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress

Salary Schedule Min-$61,907 Mid-$73,932 Max-$85,956 (Based on previous experience)

2023-2024 Salary Schedule

2024-2025 Salary Schedule is pending school board approval

$4000 Stipend
