The team you will be a part of
The Procurement team identifies researches and evaluates suppliers that meet the organization's standards of price, quality, timing, and reliability of supply. Recognizes and evaluate sales, promotional campaigns, and other opportunities to secure reduced prices. Assesses supplier's products to ensure that they comply with specifications and meet the organization's quality standards.
This role in summary
Whirlpool is currently seeking qualified candidates to join our dynamic team as a Procurement Project Manager for New Product Launches. This position can be located at our Riverview Campus in Benton Harbor, Michigan, our Tulsa, Oklahoma plant, or our Cleveland, Tennesee plant. In this critical role, you'll ensure the timely delivery of parts for new projects, maintaining high standards of cost and quality. As a core member of the project team, you’ll manage procurement activities, coordinate with process partners, and drive the successful launch of new products. #LI-DD1
Your responsibilities will include
Develop and Execute Sourcing Plans: Create sourcing strategies, select suppliers, and manage costs to meet project goals.
Ensure Supplier Readiness: Oversee supplier preparation, including Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and production planning.
Act as Procurement Liaison: Serve as the main point of contact for all procurement-related launch activities within the project.
Facilitate Cross-Functional Communication: Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and address any issues.
Create and Implement Procurement Development Plans: Develop and manage plans to support project requirements and deadlines.
Drive Cost Management: Work with the target costing team to ensure cost targets are met throughout the project lifecycle.
Ensure Supplier Readiness and Manage Risks: Oversee suppliers' ability to ramp up and down as needed, while identifying and mitigating key project risks.
Track and Monitor KPIs: Keep track of key performance indicators related to the project launch and procurement activities.
Minimum requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain or Engineering;
5+ years experience in procurement or supply chain functions
3+ years of experience managing projects in product development-related functions (Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, etc)
Preferred skills and experiences
PMP or similar certification.
Advanced degree (Master’s) in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain, or Engineering.
Experience in sourcing components and materials.
Familiarity with business functions, value streams, and project finance.
Proven experience in managing remote and multi-cultural teams.
Excellent communication skills, ability to lead/influence stakeholders, clear concise communication to all levels of the organization.
Background in New Product Introduction (NPI) and Phase In/Phase Out processes.
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
Proficiency in Google Suite (Drive, Sheets/Excel).
Creative problem-solving skills and innovative thinking.
