JOB SUMMARY:

Performs a variety of specialized technical tasks in diagnostic ultrasound utilizing high frequency

sound waves to assist medical and professional personnel in detecting anatomical abnormalities

in accordance with prescribed sonographic procedures. Assists physician with biopsy procedures

by guiding biopsy instrument using sonographic techniques. Operates various types of ultrasound

equipment as directed and performs routine diagnostic procedures according to established

standards and practices.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs appropriate ultrasound procedures and records anatomic, pathologic and/or physiological data for interpretation by a physician.Prepares patient for diagnostic procedures including taking vital signs and measurements.Explains evaluation and testing process to patient.Selects transducer and adjusts equipment controls according to organ to be examined, depth of field, and other specifications.Records, analyzes, and processes diagnostic data and other pertinent observations made during the procedure for presentation to the interpreting physician.Obtains, reviews and integrates pertinent patient history and supporting clinical data to facilitate optimum diagnostic results.Provides patient education related to medical ultrasound and/or other noninvasive diagnostic vascular techniques, and promotes principles of good health.Calibrates, cleans, and performs routine maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning.Cleans, sterilizes instruments, supplies and equipment.Stocks and replenishes supplies as required.Accurately and systematically records patient related data in the Electronic Health Record.Assists with the collection and tracking of electronic patient data.Other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Associate's degree or higher in an allied health program or equivalent.Consistent with American Institute for Ultrasound Medicine, one of the following:

American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS): RDMS (AB), (OB/GYN), or (PS), and/or RVT(VT); [Breast (BR) specialty earned prior to 2011 will be accepted; RMSKS credential is not accepted].American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) RT(S) or RT(VS); [Breast (BS) specialty earned prior to 2011 will be accepted.Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) RVS.

Current BLS certificationTwelve months of full-time clinical ultrasound experience.
