Manages systems development technical staff to ensure effective execution of projects to implement, enhance and maintain the Company's essential business applications. Builds relationships with peer business leaders for assigned areas of the Company to ensure alignment of application solutions for current and future business needs. Coaches and mentors the technical staff to acquire the necessary technical expertise and foster their individual career development.
Responsibilities
Manages daily operations of development staff, provides technical expertise to staff supervised, and resolves problems escalated to the Manager level.
Develops work plans, goals and objectives, and evaluates project progress in relation to development staff activities.
Advises and consults with IT Department peers regarding the identification of software and information infrastructure problem areas, determines procedural changes and/or application program modifications, and assists with problem resolution.
Assesses business area needs through periodic onsite visits to provide visible support and proactive service, including analysis of opporunities in order to take advantage of existing tools and technical capabilities.
Manages appropriate staffing, staff management, performance management, staff training and overall scheduling..
Advocates, educates and enforces all internal and external security and privacy policies.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, business or related field or equivalent experience
6 years experience managing business applications and customer-oriented systems
3years experience managing high-performance teams and budget management experience
8 years of IT and business/health insurance industry experience.
Technical Skills and Knowledge:
Basic understanding of multiple applications development methodologies and best practices
Basic understanding of delivering and supporting technical solutions in various infrastructure domains
Excellent project management skills, with demonstrated track record
Working knowledge of applications in area of responsibility
