The Director, Software Engineering will lead a talented, fast-paced team of front-end, back-end, mobile, and full-stack developers in creating and enhancing world-class digital products powering the college athletic fan experience. The right candidate will possess extensive experience working with product teams in the development and maintenance of large-scale web and mobile platforms. The candidate has deep experience in technical team leadership and technical project management. They have successfully led large teams of software developers to deliver innovative, consumer facing digital products.
The Director will be responsible for the organization and management of the day-to-day operations of our talented engineering teams. They will work closely with the VP of Product and others to ensure we are resourced and working in a way to execute on long-term product roadmaps and vision. They are a "people-first" tech leader with a positive, collaborative, sensibility. They are a champion of innovative technologies and will work to move SIDEARM Sports' family of digital projects into the future of fan engagement.
What you'll do
Lead multiple teams of front-end, back-end and full-stack engineers and developers building market-leading digital platforms.Recruit, grow, manage, and retain a team of talented engineers and web developers.Cultivate team engagement through open communication, transparency, and approachability as a leader.Set engineering goals, objectives, and key results (OKRs) in alignment with business priorities.Architect scalable, cloud-based systems and coach teams on security, performance, and reliability.Partner with product teams to align software engineering with product vision and roadmaps.Promote Agile development principles plus devops, automation, and modern engineering practices.Manage budgets, resource planning, and capacityCommunicate technology strategy and progress to executives and key stakeholders.Champion ongoing professional development and continuously improve development processes and team collaboration to increase velocity.Serve as an integral part of the senior leadership team.Qualifications
10+ years of software engineering experience with 5+ years in technical leadership rolesExperience building and scaling high performing engineering teams.Proven track recorded of product delivery in leading teams in a complex, fast-paced product driven environment.Deep hands-on technical expertise with software development, automated testing, and infrastructure.Deep understating of security best practices including secure code reviews, vulnerability testing, and compliance.Experience with agile methodologies like Scrum and Kanban and ability to champion adoption.Experience establishing training initiatives to ensure that everyone is proficient in the required tasks.Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral, written and group presentations)Excellent prioritization skillsExperienced in modern development technologies, test driven development, code review processes, quality assurance processes and familiarity with DevOps models.Experience with third party integration and custom development processesPassion for building innovative products and technologies.Leads with empathy, fosters a collaborative environment, and prioritizes the development of individuals and teams.A team player ready to live our core values of Care, Innovation, and Efficiency.Demonstrated dedication to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace.BS/MS degree in Computer Science or related field.
Pay Transparency
The approximate base pay range for this position is $155,000 to $170,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Individuals may also be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and/or sales compensation. Actual compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience as well as geographic location.
