(1-3 LINES DESCRIBING ROLE):
Assistant Group Leaders will be responsible for interacting with the children in a positive manner and assist in activities, clean up and upkeep of the Extended Day space. The Assistant Group Leaders will always be teamed with a Group Leader or Site Coordinator.QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
:
At least age 16 or above (work permit required if necessary)A sensitive and mature individual who is able to relate well to both children and adults.Desire to promote the growth and development of students.Reliable transportationConsistent and on-time attendance is required for supervision of the studentsESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES (NOT LIMITED TO):
Assist with identifying and meeting students physical and emotional needs and facilitate a positive before/after school experience for studentsAssist in the planned activities which may include preparationTo have a flexible approach so that you can develop or change activities to meet the needs of the childrenTreat children with dignity and respectMaintains a positive and supportive approach with all students at all timesAssisting in the general housekeeping of the room; including the ordered arrangement, appearance and décorAttending all staff meetings and mandatory training sessions including CPR and First AidMaintaining a positive relationship with parents; greeting them each day as they arrive to pick-up their childImplementing planned projects such as cooking, art, science, music, and drama with large or small groups of childrenAssisting in establishing a daily routine that include both indoor and outdoor activities, projects, games, special interest groups and dramatic play.Exhibits a desire and captivity to learn, grow and to improve their own performanceIs culturally competent ad provides and inclusive environment for all learners and colleaguesAccounts for students at all timesKnows all students by name and is able to identify sometime positive about each studentMaintains pose and composure at all times even under challenging circumstancesAssists in maintaining order in the program at all times including at snack and during activity timesContribute to yearly progress reports on extended day studentsFulfill the required amount of Professional DevelopmentThis position has a six month probationary periodConsistent and on-time attendance is required for supervision and instruction of the studentsOther duties as neededWORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work Environment:
Work is performed in school environments and several off site locations (ex: field trips)Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, run, walk for extended periods of timeMust be able to navigate uneven terrain in the form of sand, hills, concrete and woodsMust be able to ascend and descend large staircases while carrying an inflatableAbility to occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 45 poundsSufficient mobility to navigate within a large school buildingMust be able to participate in all student activitiesThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Group leaders must come to work clean, neat, and with the appropriate attire to work with students in a variety of settings.Group Leaders should wear sneakers or closed-toed shoes to be able to work with students in a variety of learning, sports, and play settings.
