Assembler II (Second Shift)

Location/Division Specific Information:

Our Hillsboro site produces world-class electron microscopes used by scientists and engineers to drive innovation around the globe. This role works to produce-high quality components used in the world’s finest tools used by researchers like Nobel prize winners and the teams who imaged the COVID-19 virus!

Thermo Fisher Scientific Hillsboro campus is on the cutting edge of global technology in pursuit of enabling our customers to make the world a Healthier, Cleaner and Safer place.

A Day in the Life:

Conduct assembly, alignments, and final configurations of components.

Conduct assembly work applying prescribed methods using a variety of hand tools, fixtures, and test equipment.

Collect test data, use databases and other office programs to document the manufacturing process.

Participate in resolving production challenges and making process decisions.

Assist in the selection and/or set-up of specialized equipment.

Perform a wide variety of troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues.

Perform equipment set-up, calibration, and preventative maintenance.

Follow audit and safety guidelines.

Participate in continuous process improvement.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

1 year of manufacturing or mechanical assembly experience required.

Background in precision mechanical assembly and low-volume, sophisticated manufacturing processes required.

Experience in lean manufacturing, 6S and continuous improvement a plus.

Previous assembly experience in a Clean Room environment is a plus.

Experience with Windows-based and MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Division-Specific Outlook and Access).

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Demonstrated ability in efficiently working in a Team of 8-10 colleagues.

Ability to analyze and address problems independently as well as collaboratively.

Ability to support projects, perform training and work efficiently as part of cohesive teams.

Self-motivated, self-starter with strong organizational skills.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

Ability to lift-up to 35lbs.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, successful in partnering with colleagues of differing cultural, language, and educational backgrounds.

Ability to work in appropriate PPE.

Compensation

Competitive Hourly Pay Rate : $23/Hr

Additional shift differential for 2nd shift and 3rd shift positions
