Candidates will automatically be declined.**Only submit profile who can work schedule in posting and interested in the unit.Nurses on this 28-bed unit meet the daily challenges of caring for patients with a wide array of medical conditions. General Internal medicine teaching services including medical students, interns, residents, and attending providers are the primary teams caring for the patients along with subspecialties such as nephrology, hepatology, immunology, infectious disease, endocrinology, gastroenterology, psychiatry, and geriatrics. Nurses on F6/5 have a unique opportunity to work within a collaborative framework with the interdisciplinary team. Patients often have multiple diagnoses including, but not limited to, pneumonia, COPD, CHF, acute and chronic renal failure, cellulitis, gastrointestinal bleeds, acute and chronic liver failure, diseases of addiction, and diabetes mellitus. F6/5 is University Hospital's designated "Special Pathogens" unit if the need arises. There is a keen awareness of the psychosocial issues faced by patients and families as they cope with new diagnoses and chronic illnesses. Discharge planning is an important component of the patient's care; nurses collaborate daily with case managers, social workers, pharmacists, and therapists to develop individual patient care plans. F6/5 provides a professional and stimulating environment where critical thinking, problem solving and attaining new knowledge and nursing skills among a very supportive staff is fostered. Minimum Requirements:Facility Requirement:Traveler must have permanent address outside 50 mile radius of Madison (permanent address must be included in traveler's profile: resume, *** portal and all onboarding documentation must have permanent address listed). Experience:Traveler must have completed two years of acute care experience within last 3 years.Traveler must have experience in an Academic Level 1 - Trauma center or similar size hospital.Successfully completed traveler assignment (13 weeks).Licensure and Certification:Traveler must have WI nursing license or compact license from their permanent address state. BLS - must be certified through American Heart Association ONLYReferenceNeeds 2 references from recent work environment/assignments (supervisor or manager only).TelemetryTraveler must have Basic Arrhythmia experience. Traveler will be required to pass UW Health Telemetry test prior to being cleared to start (not for clinic positions). UW Health Recruitment will send instructions to traveler 2-3 weeks prior to start date. FloatingTravelers are the first to float to floors working with children up to 1 year of age and/or based on the traveler's competency skills/experience. The Traveler may have shifts scheduled in multiple units, depending on the current staffing needs and/or different locations within the organization. During the traveler's assignment, if the primary unit no longer has a need, shifts will be re-assigned to another unit in order to complete contract.
