Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
1. Investigate factory quality problems, customer and consumer complaints using a broad range of skills and techniques such asCan performance testingSeam evaluationsCoating performance testsMicroscopy and metallographyPlant trialsBev/Food processing simulationProvide reports with clear conclusions and recommendations
2. Manage and record work requests using appropriate IT systemsPrioritise work to ensure business needs are met and time is used effectivelyWork within the Technical Support Team to ensure all requests are dealt with and resources are allocated efficientlyLiaise with other teams, departments and/or external resources to ensure the root cause of a problem can be establishedMaintain proactive communication with stakeholdersRegularly review work for value added opportunities and update value added reportMonthly reports
3. Contribute to the wider activities of Materials and Crown TechnologyProactive approach to environment, health and safety and energy saving initiativesInvolvement in development and innovation teams as requiredFull participation in workshops
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Professional and academicqualifications:Degree in science or engineering subject
OrSeveral years relevant experience in a similar technical support role
Previous experienceDemonstrated ability to work in a laboratory or manufacturing environment
Skills and competenciesExcellent written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal/verbal communication skillsAble to manage and plan multiple work requests
Personal attributesCustomer focussed problem solverSelf-starter and able to work with minimal supervision, but also effective as a member of a teamDiligent and attention to detailAble to learn and apply new techniques quickly and effectivelyEnjoys a balance of practical work, job management and reporting
