Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

Key job responsibilities
The Kuiper team is looking for a senior global category sourcing leader to support business and engineering stakeholders in selecting, developing and managing business relationships with critical technology and service suppliers, and others as needed to execute on Kuiper objectives.
The ideal candidate will have a successful track record developing and executing strategy, negotiating master agreements and statements of work, and managing supplier performance. Experience working in new and ambiguous environments while solving complex problems with a broad range of cross functional stakeholders will be an advantage.
Specifically, in this role you will:
- Use industry and relevant data analysis, create and execute strategic sourcing plans for a technology, business unit, department, or project to help internal customers meet their goals
- Work with a range of stakeholders including business leaders, engineering leaders, legal, program management, and supply chain to negotiate a variety of agreements and contracts including term sheets, MOUs, NDAs, SOWs, development agreements, component purchase agreements and others
- Analyze industry trends and evolving technology to proactively identify opportunities to reduce cost, minimize risk, protect continuity of supply, and industry developments that benefit Amazon's customers
- Influence suppliers' processes, technology decisions, and policies in ways that are mutually beneficial and sustainable for both organizations
- Prioritize projects and activities to deliver maximum cost reductions and reliable on-time delivery
- Manage cross-functional projects against plans and objectives to meet commitments and goals
- Drive financial modeling of large and complex deals
- Evaluate and monitor financial health of critical suppliers
- Effectively lead cross-functional meetings with clear document writing, agenda creation, note capture and follow-up activity coordination

Basic Qualifications
-4+ years of relevant experience in industry and/or academia.
-4+ years of experience in sourcing or related disciplines specific to building up global infrastructure and managing service providers in construction, security and maintenance.
-4+ years of direct experience in technology procurement, commodity management, contract negotiation, category sourcing or related supply chain experience.
Preferred Qualifications
-Be comfortable with ambiguity and curious to learn new skills
-Technical acumen in global infrastructure design/development/deployment lifecycle with ability to connect to related business matters such as cost, SLA and quality
-Experience in supplier evaluation/selection, should-cost models, negotiate MVA, NRE, and CAPEX/OPEX to ensure best-in-class cost for our infrastructure

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $220,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
