We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Chemist to add to our dynamic Innovation team. This role will support new and ongoing projects for our magnet wire production facilities.

Essential Functions/Duties:

Apply sound scientific methods to investigate, understand, and develop practical product inventions and modifications for high temperature thin film polymer thermoset materials for magnet wire insulation systems.Hands-on technical leadership of design and execution of thermoset insulation technology.Interface with Innovation team to provide knowledge and develop thermoset technology and processes for the introduction and evaluation of new/modified materials.Responsible for development and implementation of products and processes to meet or exceed the requirements of current and future customer applications.As a Senior Chemist responsible for the development, planning and direction of a variety of projects and activities, locally, regionally and globally.This position will be focused on growing to be recognized as a technical expert on thin film thermoset insulation.REQUIRED knowledge/skills/abilities and other minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science or related field is required. Master’s or PhD preferred.Concentration in high temperature thin film thermoset polymers preferred.Seven (7) or more years of polymer manufacturing, polymer research, or polymer development experience.Strong knowledge of Polymer Chemistry with demonstrated ability for developing creative solutions to related problems is required.Proven experience in product development from concept to commercialization is required.Proven experience of polymer development from pilot batch to mass production is required.Possess a proven understanding of thermoset polymer technology and of at least two of the following areas: polymer science, reaction chemistry, or electrical insulation systems.Possess demonstrated ability with analytical skills: methodically investigate problems, organize logical experimental trials, document data, and present results.Possess “hands-on” experience with thermoset polymer material formulation, synthesis and experimentation.Travel up to 20% required with potential of some international travel.Strong PC skills required.Strong statistical background.Additional Qualifications

History of developing and implementing new materials, processes, and procedures.Highly developed written and oral communication.Experience working in an innovative environment.Strong structured problem-solving skills.Possess the demonstrated ability to recognize and apply theoretical concepts to real world applications.Experience in the thermoset polymer electrical insulation field, or similar experience in the coatings industry preferred.FEA/CFD experience preferred.APQP experience preferred.
