Job Objective:

A brief overview of the position.Oversees the daily operation of Sterile Processing activities. Manages and oversees instrument cleaning, maintenance, sterilization, quality assurance, storage and distribution of instruments, instrument sets, disposable and reusable items and overall management for Inpatient and/or Outpatient surgeries, and instrumentation support. Manages and oversees processing and facilitation of Vendor Instrument sets that are utilized for all surgical specialties

QualificationsEducationRequired: High School/GEDPreferred: BA/BS in healthcare or business

Licensure/CertificationRequired: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) if hired after January 2024

ExperienceRequired: Five (5) years of experience in sterile processing with two (2) years of supervisory experience

Essential ResponsibilitiesDemonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.Oversees the daily operations of the sterile processing department to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, adherence to quality assurance requirements.Provides leadership and oversight to staff to ensure high level of customer satisfaction and fiscal responsibilities.Partners with the surgical teams (OR Leadership, OR Nurses, Surgical Technicians, Surgeons, etc.) addressing instrumentation or instrument set concerns during operative cases in various surgical locations and settings.Provides oversight of Vendor Instrument set quality and ensures appropriate quality standards are applied and maintained by vendors.Ensures all quality, infection control processes are being performed.Assists the Supervisors with interviewing and hiring.Ensures employee evaluations are completed on time.Ensures the staff schedules meets the need of the customers.Oversees and assists in the day to day operation of the department in accordance with AAMI, TJC, OSHA, CDPH.Fosters multi-disciplinary team approach and promotes the advancement of collaborative practiceMonitors and oversee all of the various methods from instrument flow, decontamination (manual and equipment processed, instrument inspection and assembly and wrapping, sterilization (including high level disinfection), storage and distribution.Coordinates the general preventative maintenance activities for surgical and sterile processing equipment.Assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures; provides appropriate, fair and uniform administration of all policies and procedures.Provides support to Inpatient and/or Outpatient leaders as a resource to enhance customer satisfaction, achieve optimal utilization.Assists with equipment selection.Communicates with the end user and department director when there are undue delays of services.Identifies department performance improvement opportunities and presents supporting data to the department director, including tracking and identifying trends in OR turnover times.Partners and assists in performance improvement, cost reduction, staff accountability and regulatory agency (The Joint Commission or State of CA) readiness.Presents data to the Director and other leaders as directed.Assists all Eisenhower Health departments that perform sterile processing functions or is requesting new assistance with the reprocessing of new devices.Performs other duties as assigned.
