Description
The Lake Forest Police Department is looking for reliable individuals to serve as a School Crossing Guard during the 2024-2025 school year.
Under supervision of the Police Administrative Commander, the School Crossing Guard will provide for the safe movement of children to and from school when crossing public roadways and intersections.
This is a part-time position. Crossing Guard is required to be on duty for the following times: 8:05 am - 8:40 am and 3:30 pm - 4:05 pm (with an early release on Mondays at 2:30 pm - 3:05 pm & half days ending at 11:25am - 12:00pm)
Examples of Duties
Assembles children and other pedestrians behind curb lines awaiting traffic lulls or signal changesStops traffic and escorts pedestrians into the street allowing them to cross safelyInstructs children in proper procedures for safe street crossingThe employee has regular and frequent contact with department and residential children/familiesWorking Conditions:
Ability and willingness to tolerate a variety of adverse weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or snow. Must possess stamina to stand for long periods of time, repetitive use of hand signals to motorists and school children; mobility to escort pedestrians across streets.Qualifications
Requires no previous experience or minimum level of educationExcellent interpersonal and community relations skillsAbility to work independently under minimal supervision and have access to reliable transportation
Supplemental Information
$587.00 paid biweeklyFor every 40 hours worked, this position will receive 1 hour of vacation time
