Overview
TPG is seeking a motivated, dependable, and safe Heavy Vehicle Driver to test pre-production vehicles and their systems to support a manufacturer and marketer of medium and heavy-duty commercial vehicles.
Successful candidates will test drive and evaluate pre-production test vehicles on 'real world' durability test routes/tracks, conduct safety inspections, perform specialized test procedures, and document findings on driver reports in a clear and concise manner.
Test medium-heavy duty trucks in a wide range of testing conditions including engine, transmission, and durability. Experience new technology firsthand and give feedback to the development team.
The hours for this position will vary on a weekly basis depending on testing needs.
Essential Job DutiesSafely operate CDL A test vehicles in a wide range of testing conditions.Ability to operate heavy vehicle manual transmissions, (i.e., class 8, class 6, etc.) (plus)Follow detailed instructions for vehicle and component preparation to begin testing. This may include but is not limited to full visual inspection of vehicle including tires, glass, body panels and interior. Checking all vehicle fluids, air pressure, and function of components.Collect data through various data acquisition systems and communicate in accordance with customer protocolTravel 30-40% to various states and ability to cross Canadian border to conduct specialized testing or transport vehicles. Must be comfortable with flying and passport is highly desired.Utilize electronic logging for maintaining DOT complianceUse tools such as Microsoft Outlook, Teams, and email to effectively communicate and collaborateOther duties as requestedInterpersonal
Able to work cooperatively in diverse & challenging environmentGood verbal and written communication skillsReading comprehension skills to interpret test proceduresDemonstrates safe work practicesDemonstrate ability to follow detailed procedures/instructionsFlexible and receptive to new requestsEducation, Certifications and Qualifications
Class A Commercial Driver's LicenseA clean motor vehicle driving record is necessaryPassenger endorsement (plus)Lowboy experience (plus)Passport (plus)Tanker (plus)Safety
Able to drive safely in various conditions, follow policies and take ownership for working safely to avoid risks to self and othersMinimum of 3 years of driving experience with excellent driving recordSafety Sensitive position requiring all persons assigned to activity be drug free.Alcohol consumption not permitted 8 hours prior to beginning of start of shift.Able to safely drive in heavy traffic and adverse weather conditions.May support training of others on performance and safe driving skills.Document near misses, make suggestions for reduction of risk exposure and communicate all damage to vehicle including scrapes, dings etc. Participate in and support corrective action plans as requested.Physical and Environmental Job Requirements
Sitting, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, pushing, carrying, and lifting items of up to 25 lbs. or moreProlonged routine sitting for 2 or more hours, and evening driving may be necessaryMust be able to work in adverse weather conditions; dusty, hot weatherAbility to perform essential job functions in an environment with varied noise levelsIMPORTANT ITEMS
