What Will You Be Doing?
The Senior Accountant of Financial Reporting is primarily responsible for the preparation and timely submission of internal financial reporting, external financial statements and all other compliance and regulatory reporting. This position works with various departments across the business to aggregate and validate the information contained within the reporting to ensure all reporting is complete and accurate. This position requires a broad knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
Essential Functions
Coordinate the preparation, submission as well as provide review of regulatory reports/requests to government agencies (i.e., DOT), as well as other external parties (i.e., creditors and lessors)Prepare and review external financials, footnotes and supporting schedules for SEC filingsResponsible for the preparation, validation, and distribution of monthly statistics and reporting to internal usersEnsure compliance with internal policies/procedures, generally accepted accounting principles and regulatory requirements including SOXAssist with the preparation of PBC's and responses due to external auditorsPrepare monthly journal entries and review account reconciliations, on an as-needed basisReview new accounting and reporting rules issued by the FASB, SEC, AICPA, EITF and DOT identifying those relevant to the CompanyOther Functions
Special Projects as requiredQualifications
2-4 years Accounting experience, public accounting company experience desirableBachelor's degree in AccountingCertified Public Accountant preferred1-2 years of supervisory experience preferredComprehensive knowledge of GAAP and ability to interpret and implement new accounting pronouncements.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, as well as an understanding of reporting databases, designs and configurations, especially accounting software and reporting modulesAirline industry experience preferredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong organizational and communication skillsConfidential and professional mannerAble to work under pressure & time limitationsExperience with month-end closing and year-end auditsMust be detail-orientedAbility to maintain composure under pressure and able to prioritize multiple tasksAbility to work independently, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesExcellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate in a positive and effective manner with subordinates, peers, and all levels of management
