Our vision is to become a preeminent Department of Pathology in the United States, which is recognized for excellence in biomedical research, the education of health care professionals, and the innovative application of science and technology to the diagnosis and management of human disease.Chief Purpose: The Department of Pathology at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System seeks a full-time pathologist, open-rank(Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor) non-tenuretrack, in the Division of Clinical Pathology, to perform Hematopathology. The candidate will be responsible for day-to day sign out of Hematopathologycases.Position ResponsibilitiesClinical: This faculty member will participate in a busy hematology laboratory, which includes sections for body fluid analysis, coagulation, and a high volume bone marrow and lymph node diagnostic service. Responsibilities include clinical sign out in Hematopathology.Service: Faculty member will be required to actively participate in tumor boards. Participation in departmental and institutional committees is encouraged, when necessary.Teaching: Faculty member will be required to actively participate in the education of residents and fellows, medical and dental students, and ancillary staff.Research: Active participation in funded and unfunded research activities is required; the candidate must be able to follow through on research projects.This faculty member will report to andwork closely with the director, division chair and chair to further the missionof the division and the department of pathology.Required QualificationsMD, MD/PhD, DO, or equivalent degree with board certification in Clinical Pathology, or combined Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, is required, as well as fellowship training with board certification or eligibility in Hematopathology.Candidates must be qualified for full, unrestricted medical licensure in Virginia.Participation in graduate and undergraduate medical education is required.Demonstratedexperience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and studentenvironment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU is required.Preferred QualificationsThe applicant should have a potential for developing clinical research collaborations.Expertise in flow cytometry, lymph nodepathology, and coagulation is preferred.Preference will be given to candidates with clinicalexperience and an interest and/or ability in research and scholarly activity asdisplayed through publication in professional journals and presentations atnational meetings.Rank commensurate with qualifications.The School of Medicine continuously strives for our workplace and learning environment to reflect the demographic and social milieu of the communities we serve.All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.
