Job Summary

The Corporate Finance Senior Associate serves as the primary underwriter for complex relationships in the large corporate and middle market portfolio for Northwest Bank.The ability to independently perform highly in-depth qualitative and quantitative analysis at the client, industry and macroeconomic levels is required. The Senior Associate is expected to design and recommend credit structures to senior leadership which align with the needs of the clients and the risk appetite of the Bank.Regular client contact will occur as part of the underwriting and portfolio management duties. Where Northwest Bank is the lead agent, the Senior Associate will be involved in the preparation of loan syndication market materials and other supporting documentation and may participate in sell-side activities.

Essential FunctionsPrepare detailed credit memorandum for complex lending relationshipsComplete comprehensive analysis on client financial statementsRecommend proper loan structure, including appropriate covenant formulas and definitionsIdentify credit strengths, weaknesses, risks and mitigating factorsDetermine the required scope for underwriting and due diligence based on client risk profileParticipate in joint calls with Relationship ManagersMaintain a working knowledge of macroeconomic factors affecting national and global marketsIdentify and track loan and credit policy exceptionsMonitor ongoing risk in the assigned portfolio and recommend proactive action if necessaryPrepare annual or quarterly reviews for relationships within the portfolio, as requiredRecommend and defend appropriate risk ratingsReview and negotiate legal documentation with outside bank counselDevelop financial statement forecasts and enterprise valuationsEnsure compliance with Northwest's policies and procedures, and Federal/State regulationsNavigate Microsoft Office Software, computer applications, and software specific to the department to maximize technology tools and gain efficiencyWork as part of a teamWork with on-site equipmentEducation and Experience preferred

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or other business-related field5-6 years of Credit Underwriting in the Corporate Finance sectorAbility to establish effective working relationships among team members and participate in solving problems and making decisionsAbility to present and express ideas and information clearly and concisely in a manner appropriate to the audience, whether oral or writtenAbility to actively listen to what others are saying to achieve understanding, sharing information with others and facilitating the open exchange of ideas and informationAbility to establish courses of action for self to accomplish specific goals, develop and use tracking systems for monitoring own work progress, and effectively use resources such as time and informationAbility to make right decisions based on perceptive and analytical processes, practicing good judgment in gray areas
