The Peddie School seeks a Head Lifeguard to support the Director of Aquatics in maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment at the Aquatic Center. The Head Lifeguard oversees the efficiency of our lifeguard staff for the smooth delivery of scheduled programs.
Essential Functions
Creation and maintenance of the lifeguard scheduleEnsure safety standards are met at all times on deck Supervise lifeguards and enforce proper expectations for all guardsAssist in the development of lifeguard in-service topicsMentoring new staffDuring an emergency, ensuring the safety of all patrons and employees in the aquatic facility is prioritized, including emergency response, evacuations, and water rescueSupport and aid in lifeguard certification courses held at the Peddie Aquatic Center Lifeguard regularly, ability to teach swim lessons and/or coach age group swim team a plus.Assist in the management of Peddie Aquatic Center's social media accountsDirect all staff, public, and patrons for the successful and safe operation of aquatics programs during the shiftOther duties as assigned by the Director of AquaticsQualifications
High School diploma or equivalentCurrent Red Cross Lifeguard certificationExcellent customer service skillsMature, reliable, confident, and possess strong interpersonal skillsAble to work under pressureStrong communication skills and ability to work positively with other staff in conflict resolutionStrong understanding of site-specific emergency procedures and management of staff and patrons in these situationsProven ability and experience as a lifeguardAvailable to work days and weekendsWSI/LGIT is preferred but not required
