Location : Kirtland AFB, NM
Canvas is seeking a full-time experienced Test Manager to perform DE testing support for both High Power Microwaves (HPM) and High Energy Lasers (HEL) platforms under the leadership and guidance of the OL-AA Director.
The 704th Test Group Operating Location (704TG/DE CTF) at Kirtland AFB, New Mexico provides co-located Test and Evaluation (T&E) support for Directed Energy (DE) technology currently under development at the Air Force Research Laboratory Directed Energy (AFRL/RD) Directorate. Situated at Kirtland AFB, the 704 TG/DE CTF serves as a bridge between Research and Development (R&D) and the Test and Evaluation (T&E) community. It can directly support DE technology still under development while accelerating the transition of DE technology from R&D systems to acquisition ready programs.
Duties:Coordinating an AFTC directed shift of OL-AA personnel to HELSTF onboard WSMR in preparation for that organization's transition to J-DETC.Executing Test Organization (ETO) for the USAF Life Cycle Management Center (LCMC) Directed Energy Prototype campaign to include Phase 2 testing (system power upgrades).Providing support (primarily technical writing at this point) to the USAF Strategic Development Planning and Experimentation (SDPE) Experiment 1 (counter UAS) effort. Includes possible extension OCONUS deployment for USAF MAJCOM support.Technical and test lead for the Directed Energy portion of SDPE Experiment 2 (counter cruise missile) (potential Q4FY22 start).Serve as training and transition mentor to new hire personnel (particularly NH03 test Engineer and NH04 Director).Requirements:
A Master's Degree in a relevant engineering field. Experience for education may be substituted with customer approval.A working knowledge of Direct Energy systems.Familiarity with HPL and HPM technology.Must have ability to work within specific procedures and processes of the Air Force Test Center and DoD regulations and guidelines.Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with customer interaction and presentation capabilities required.Exemplify a dedication to achieving the mission of the DE CTF as well as high standards of quality and excellence in performing duties.Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while being able to prioritize work to balance multiple projects and deadlines.Security Clearance:
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
Other Essential Job Functions:
Must be willing to travel up to 10% with possible overseas travel.
