The Senior Manager Accounting Services is an opportunity to play a crucial role in the Finance Group of our $1.8 billion public company. The individual will report to the Vice President, Corporate Controller and interface across the Corporate Accounting & Reporting Functions, the Customer Service Group, the Sales Teams, the Treasury Team and various plant personnel. This individual will be a transformational leader to bring our Accounting Services Group into the future. The role provides leadership to the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Settlement Groups through the establishment and maintenance of policies, development of processes and creator of innovation to achieve efficient and accurate processing of a high volume of transactions. This role works with the Treasury team to achieve the best possible use of the company's working capital. The Role also supports the Accounting Services Group's Managers, Supervisors and Leads to drive productivity in workflows and reviewing SOPs for critical process flows. Finally, the leader will support the overall achievement of the Finance Department's objectives and annual goals as well as team and individual goals specifically.

Responsibilities

Critical Components of the Position:Directs Accounting Services Teams to achieve efficient, effective, and accurate processing of transactions.Oversees the management of these teams and the processes and procedures that are in place for consistent, timely and accurate processing of transactions.

Establishes company guidelines for customer/vendor payment terms and customer credit limits to achieve overall efficient use of company working capital.Works with the AP Manger and AR Supervisor on a continual, or at least annual basis, to review payment terms and credit limits to reduce risk and increase efficiency in the use of company working capital.

Develops and validates SAP processes and procedures for optimization of the use of SAP.Develops opportunities to optimize the use of SAP by engaging team members to adapt processes and procedures for improvement in overall workflow.

Considers innovation to further improve the overall efficiency of the Accounting Services Departments.Reviews latest industry trends and contemplates new and innovative ways of working or automating the processing of transactions.

Partners with the Treasury Team to manage working capital in the most effective manner.Develops policies to manage company working capital through refinement of vendor and customer payment term and customer credit limits and establishes guidelines for diligence in settlement of customer deductions.

Develops personnel through training, goal setting and consistent feedback.Provides developmental guidance for Accounting Services Managers/Supervisors/Leads through the establishment and maintenance of goals, the providing of consistent feedback and the pursuit of progress for selected growth behaviors.

Essential Functions/Primary Responsibilities:

Oversees the operations of the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Settlements Departments through leadership of staff, guidance for process development improvement, documentation of best practice SOP's and management of the departments' leaders.Provides oversight for the implementation and training of software used for corporate transactional accounting systems; focusing on opportunities to streamline and enhance current processes.Assists Department Managers/Supervisors with the resolution of questions and issues.Collaborates with other company departments.Reviews accounting entries, monthly reporting and month end reconciliations.Oversees the resolution of AR/EDI/invoicing issues with the Customer Service Department as needed.Provides oversight in the establishment and maintenance of credit limits for customers.Provides oversight in the establishment and maintenance of payment terms for customers and vendors.Directs the management of T&E policies and expenses through the Chrome River system.Supports the overall achievement of each department's objectives and annual goals.Provides developmental guidance for Departmental Managers/Supervisors through the establishment and maintenance of goals and pursuit of competency progress.Coordinates audit processes and follow-up procedures with internal and external auditors.Compiles and submits information for all required department/corporate monthly, quarterly and annual reports and meetings.Performs assigned SOX duties in timely and effective manner; take appropriate actions should performance of assigned SOX duties identify ineffectiveness/non-compliance in addressing the risk the control was intended to address.Qualifications

BA/BS degree in Accounting/Finance10-15 years prior work experience in Accounting Services and Manufacturing Accounting, preferably in the Consumer-Packaged Goods IndustryPrevious leadership/supervisory experience requiredKnowledge and/or experience with SAP requiredUnderstanding of EDI processes preferredSoftware implementation experience is a plusExperience leading a team with objective setting, performance and development requiredAbility to work in a team setting, drive team results and support change management within the organizationHighly developed problem-solving abilities - generating workable solutions for any anticipated issuesProficient in Microsoft Office computer applications including Excel (experience using advanced Excel formulas, pivot tables), Word, PowerPoint, Access, and OutlookExceptional communication skills (verbal and written)Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
