Data Fusion Algorithm Developer

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), Laurel, Maryland, United States, 20724

Description

Does the challenge of developing effective algorithms that fuse information from a wide variety of sources excite you?Do you thrive in a collaborative research environment, working alongside an energetic, multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers? Are you ready to help the US secure and maintain leadership in the development and fielding of information fusion algorithms for non-kinetic defense systems? If so, we are looking for someone like you to join our team at APL!We are seeking a highly motivated algorithm developer who will contribute to all phases of the data fusion algorithm development process. You will be joining a team of engineers and scientists who are at the forefront of APL's mission to provide innovative solutions to critical challenges.Accurate, timely, and actionable information derived from a variety of sources provides the warfighter advantages over its adversaries. Our group at APL identifies, develops, and applies efficient and effective algorithms that leverage successes from estimation theory, information theory, and data science. We produce critical multi-source data/information fusion and resource management algorithms for a variety of DoD missions. In this role, you will:Investigate, develop, prototype, and communicate solutions that improve warfighter capabilitiesDesign and exercise rigorous testing and validation methodologies to determine if/when algorithms fulfill warfighter needs/requirementsInteract with large data sets of various types, formats, and structures in a clear and appropriate manner to enable robust pre-processing, normalization, or other manipulations as neededPrepare and present technical evaluations of algorithms to a broad audience that includes both decision makers as well as technical peersCreate, develop, and debug code to include the following: generate meaningful data plots; implement and/or exercise algorithms, and contribute to various multi-user software test beds
